Does a 5/16 ring terminal or lug fit on an m8 stud?

8 mm > 7.9 mm
8mm > 5/16"

a 8mm rod will NOT fit in a 7.9 mm hole

last time I checked

Yeah but last time I checked the question was will a:
5/16 Lug will go onto a 8 mm 1.25 threaded stud quite easily.

There is some tolerance. They may have changed the rules since the last time I used 5/16 ring terminals on M8 bolts.
Yeah i work on 2 stroke engines that have 8 mm 1.25 threaded studs with the aluminum head gasket holes at ~ 5/16 there is all kinds of slop.
Pretty sure smoothJoey was employing veiled sarcasm.

Unless you are at the connector amps limit, or corrosion is a concern, or you need an intact ring to keep a seal on something, can't think of a down side.
I'd make one middle cut and stretch it slightly (not remove a section to be like a fork connector).

Just bought a Victron battery protect and it has M6 studs which are very close to fitting #10 ring terminals but not close enough!
This agro is not good for my sobriety.?
