i have a trailer in the mountain. i am planing to install a 1.8kw array and 5kw battery. no electricity up there, no grounding on the trailer. do i MUST install the ground rod or grounding??

Its a good idea especially if your array is distant. You can though have an isolated system and nothing wrong with that, especially with roof mounted solar.

A ground rod mainly protects utility supplied power systems, but if you have a large web of wiring basically suspended in the air and are not confident in dc lightning repel, a single point ground rod would give a place outside your home for stray voltages to drain. Static and other charges.

Thanks for that info! I understand better now why to ground D/C batteries inverted etc to chassis rather than installing grounding rod if connected to utility for charging.
