I have so far refrained from posting in public, but unfortunately this company has some serious quality problems.
I have purchased one of their BMS units and have nothing but problems with it. The BMS now stopped balancing after only about 160 cycles, some cells overload to 3.5V while others only partially charge to 3.3V. I am no longer able to fully charge the battery beyond about 84% and it gets worse every day. Their BMS has had problems from day one. At random the ambiant temperature sensor would read zero and shut the whole unit down, the RJ45 connectors so flaky that it drops a connection just from someone walking by. The contact springs they are using are so weak that the plug falls a out even with the latch fully pushed in.
This wouldn't be an issue if Seplos would honestly care about their products. Unfortunately they don't. Instead their strategy is to evade and to pretend nothing happened. Specifically their sales person Adam Han who seems to be in control of their client communication disappears for weeks pretending he didn't receive multiple messages sent to him (he did as I was able to confirm with another employee), and when he responds his common response to anything communicated is an unrelated 'OK' in an attempt to stonewall the issue or believing it will somehow go away.
I am talking from the perspective of a professional in the semiconductor industry. Their PCB production has some serious quality issues, their reflow process is out of tune with visible areas of unmelted solder balls across the board resulting in faulty solder contacts that may or may not function. The quality of the parts they use is abhorrent. Quality shielded RJ45 connectors cost less than a dollar per unit, instead they cheap out using sub-standard components with the end result that the CAN-bus wiring constantly drops connection shutting the whole system down.
That BMS that we purchased now is dead and a throw away. It has stopped balancing voltage differences across cells the cells exceed > 200mV. Worse than having wasted our money on this broken BMS we are now facing the danger that this BMS damages our battery cells, some cells are constantly stressed out to their maximum allowable limit while others remain barely charged. Before we damage our expensive batteries we have no choice but to take this BMS offline and replace it with a more reliable product. I am posting this in hopes that others don't have to go through the same experience. Don't buy this tofu dreg from Seplos, their product is of poor quality, they show no intention to make good on their months-long promises and their customer service is non-existent.
