I live in a rural area a few miles outside a town of about 2000 people. There's one traffic light. My town, and my entire county, are strongly republican and there's a church on every corner for these idiots to congregate. When my child started going to school, I was extremely worried that the schools, and their religiously minded employees, would be pushing their religion and ignoring science, math, and other important subjects. At the very least, I figured the teachers would be slipping their Christianity in whenever possible.... you know, trying to "slip one over the line".
I have to say, my worries were unfounded. The closest call I've seen was a representative from the boy scouts that was allowed into the cafeteria to hand out their boy scouts propaganda flyers. not exactly the end of the world even though the BSoA is most certainly a religious org. There was no religion, just a flyer to join BSoA.

I was also worried about the quality of math and science being I'm in the middle of a heavily christian county.. No worries, math and science are appropriate for the age group.
