But notice how panels are laid on the roof unfastened with extension cords running down into garage. This is DIYsolar taken to the max.

I mean I shouldn't laugh, but daam people... the roof is no place for loose panels... or cords...
But I bet it was wiring issues in the battery department that caused the fire.

I wonder if the battery bank was Li-Ion cells?

Seriously though, glad no one was hurt, but this type of thing will only lead to more regulations, inspections, limits on what DIY will be allowed to do = not good for us. I suggest we all pay attention to our friends/family/co-workers/neighbours and try to influence them to avoid this stuff as best we can.
