in reading the long XUBA thread I learned that "Amy Amy" is involved with Shenzhen Luyuan Technology Co., Ltd.

I just placed an order with them via Alibaba for 48x 120ah cells.

the shipping calculator was apparently wrong on the 120ah cells, quoting me $170 for all the cells. after the order processed "Amy Amy" contacted me and worked out actual shipping costs, coming in at $325 above the alibaba site calculation.

The original charge, with ali TA fees and everything was $1955, shipping correction added $335 for a total of $2290 or $48/cell shipped.

due to my mention of DIYSOLARFORUM the seller included double buss bars and screws at no extra charge.

------

alibaba TA payment issues: initially the payment would decline. I submitted the photo's of my card and ID and also made a small purchase from another vendor ($80, solar connectors and such) to make sure it would work. after the info was approved the $1955 payment went through fine

the additional payment of $335 initially declined, but that was because of my daily limit on my card.

woke up to an update. there were more pictures and a video showing voltage/resistance tests.

"Amy Amy"? As in the same Amy that works for Xuba, "Amy Wan"?

If so do you know:
1. is this conclusively the same person?
2. is this conclusively a different reseller or possibly 1 company 2 names?
3. how/why is she working for competing companies at the same time?

1. Yes it is the same person. No doubt at all.
2 No idea lol
3. Again, no idea how she can do that if she is really working FOR the company.

I suspect she is basically like an insurance agent that reps more than one company and can shop for the best deal for their customer depending on their needs....not exactly the same as these are the same cells, but along those lines.
Hope that made sense lol.

Yeah I get what you are saying, this would make some sense, though its not the impression I got from what people have reported over the past few months and some of the things @Steve_S mentioned a while back. But who knows, its not always easy to make sense of what's going on, and what are normal business practices over there, definitely some different norms than in the west and a lot of opacity.

One other possibility is as sales have grown, Xuba might be playing some sort of game with taxes, regulation, or with the Alibaba system by opening other storefronts? Or might have some other more (or less) legit reason for diversifying. I have noticed its quite common for one company in China to be organized into many smaller companies. For instance some cell manufacturers form different companies for each factory they have.

That's exactly how they work in China selling stuff. Nothing out of the ordinary ...never thought of using the insurance agent analogy to explain it so thanks. I've actually always had great experiences dealing directly with sellers in China...but hat was over 20yrs ago now and times they...have kinda changed so I wary too. ;)

Any hand writing experts to do the analysis on the name tags? That would confirm it. Any video of Amy Amy testing the cells? In the other videos I have seen, she wears a hand bracelet. Etc. Maybe the insurance broker is an excellent analogy.

I communicated with Amy at length about ordering some cells from Xuba, and after some time she offered the same cells from Luyuan at a slightly cheaper price. I have no doubt at all that Amy of Xuba also sells for Luyuan. No reason to doubt it at all.

If you check the xuba thread someone that ordered from xuba at the same time I ordered from luyuan had pretty much the same shipping dates and such.

48 cells here, all within 0.05v of each other.

Only one issue: the boxes with 3 cells on the top layer should have had a filler in the empty spot.

I've got them all paralleled and taking 3.6v

I'll build a few packs, got a chargery 8s and a Daly 4s to play with.

It is the same person. I originally contacted Amy via Xuba store on Alibaba and she asked me if I would mind to purchase from her on Luyuan instead as that is a new business she is trying to generate traffic / customers for. She had me transfer from chat at Xuba to Chat with her at Luyuan within minutes... I completed the order there. She gave me a few dollars off the order price for the (minor) inconvenience.

How long from order date to delivery?

For anyone that has any doubt, AMY from XUBA is the Same AMY at Luyuan which is a partnered vendor.
Luyan also has a wider option of cells from different manufacturers and the devil IS in the details as there are also high capacity ones listed there for more $ obviously, so pay attention. Luyan also has bundles of 4, 8, 16 or more cells. Unfortunately, they do not offer any BMS' while XUBA carries the Chargery Line now. I made a few suggestions to Amy this morning about various bundles & options including offering a Bundle with Cells & BMS as a "package deal".

XUBA's BMS Page for anyone curious (Chargery only):

I'm fairly new here. Wondering about the balancing of the batteries. Is this something you still have to do with thse brand new cells?

Here is my balancing video. I think most would a agree that you should top balance in most situation. Will also has a video.

Most people would say yes, as a best practice, a top balance and ideally a capacity test starts you off on the right foot. And these type of cells (highly discounted grey market cells) are in my opinion just behind used cells in terms of importance of balancing and capacity testing.

If you don't balance, and you use a balancing BMS with proper low and high voltage limits, I don't believe you are at much risk, but your pack will be potentially unbalanced and have reduced capacity until your BMS can balance the cells over time. A few people feel this is safer/easier because it minimizes the potential for user error.
