Hello Guys

I posted 2 months ago that I was ordering a set of 3 x Seplos Mason Battery Packs, which I order back in early March 2022. I am based in the UK and was wondering if there would be any interested partys in the UK who would like ask any questions about this battery pack.

I am planning to replace my existing Lead Acid Battery bank of 16 batteries with just one of the Seplos Mason Pack for the same amount of useable storage 8.5kWh.

The photos show how they arrived.

Just assembled four of their 280Ah DIY cases, they are pretty good so far! Good luck with your build!

Very interested in the UK specific parts of this build, such as wiring to consumer unit, building regs and insurance aspects (including if you just ignore them :) )

Hi, I’m about to order a couple of Seplos 280ah Mason units from Henry Huang at Seplos, so I’m interested in how you found them to deal with business wise. Yours obviously arrived, so that’s a good start I guess!
He is also offering some 280Ah cells, at about USD 165 ex works.
How did you deal with VAT? I’m VAT registered but I guess you don’t get a VAT invoice. I don’t really understand how they can do the shipping with ‘all taxes paid’ for less than the VAT that the revenue would want on importation, so presumably you got stung with VAT on top of their ‘all in’ price?

Mike

I had a good experience dealing with Henry, seems like an alright guy. I bought four of the 280Ah cases and they are good, have them in service now and very happy with them so far.

He says the Seplos cells are EV grade (grade A) and come with test reports (and they claim to provide a 10 year warranty on them), so that price is probably fair if that is true. I'd already ordered cells from elsewhere or I would have given them a shot.

My kit was shipped air freight and i just got a "tax to pay" notice from UPS just before it was delivered.

Thanks, that’s reassuring. The Seplos BMS seems a good choice, and not a bad price on the rest of the kit. Have you got yours talking to an inverter?

be careful VAT is never include, in their delivery. the MAson 280AH is design for EVE LF280K or 304 cells only.

Thanks everyone. Really useful information and feedback.
If I go the Seplos Mason DIY 280Ah and their cells too then it would work out at £202.50 per kWhr of storage at 100% DOD. This does not include VAT or my time of course.
So how does that compare with decent quality pre-assembled stuff?

@Home Made Power did you buy direct from Seplos? How did you contact them? They don't seem to be responding to the "contact us" page :(

EDIT I take that back, message landed in Spam. Always check Spam!

I want one of their BMSs but the stores on AliExpress are pulling the bait-and-switch, advertise for $250 with the LCD then send a message saying it's another $160 without the LCD. Order cancelled. Meanwhile they continue to advertise at $250 ...

Get it directly from seplos , specify with CAN or RS485 when you place your order.

Thats also what I did Crossy and no problem. They will eventually post an invoice for you on Alibaba or Aliexpress and all is clear there. Ask them about shipping time because I am still waiting on delivery of one to Thailand. They seem to have a bit of a stock issue at the moment.

Yeah, once I sorted the spam issue I'm chatting with Henry.
I will ask about shipping time.

I find that many Chinese companies are happy to deal with one-off quantities (Seplos being one of them) others won't even give you the time of day for less than 100.

EDIT Ordered 100A BMS, LCD, RS-485 adapter and shipping to Thailand USD 188, so the naughty AliExpress seller actually saved me money :)

I’ve had a good response and communication with Henry, and he sent through a formal proforma invoice for payment in the form required by my company.
So that’s 2 pcs Mason 280Ah case kits and 32 280Ah cells ordered and paid for. I’ll post progress!

The factories for the BMS' were shut down bc of the lockdowns, they only just got restocked at the end of May I believe.

Just got an SMS from FedEx, box is on the way, delivery Wednesday, so it looks like Seplos' stock issues (at least for bare BMS') are sorted :)

I received a confirmation this morning that its been logged for shipping with Comone Express. So they must be back on top of any supply issues now.
