What is so hard to understand about Do laundry during the day!!

my socks are that fed up of being washed, that now some of them hide in some special hiding place, never to be seen again and they have to be paired up with other left behind socks. although they dont match each other in terms of fabric, length and pattern they seem to enjoy each others company ...

I swear my wife is bored or looking for ways to say “ See this Solar doesn’t work”.

How many times now have I asked “Can you please do the laundry once a week during the day?”
Nah every night.
Pair of socks dirty. Do laundry.
Rug got a leaf on it.
Do the laundry.
Washcloth dirty
Do the laundry.

This runs the well pump, the water heater and not to mention a Dryer.

Am I the only one who has this issue?

It’s no wonder I dont have any hair left..
Unplug the washing machine for a few days and tell her she used it too much and maybe wore it out. If she needs to wash clothes, she can go to a nearby creek and beat them on a rock. :ROFLMAO:

8 days of no sun, we ended up doing 3 loads in one day when the sun finally shined. She cuts hair and washes her towels here and uses the dryer. Other 2 loads were clothes and line dried.

Put a timer on the laundry circuit if she can't comply. After a few times of trying to get the washer going, she might get the hint.

She will do laundry or dishwasher in the evening if we know good sun in next few days. One advantage of a larger battery bank.

Sounds more like that she has a routine. Many of us are creatures of habit. For them it is very difficult to break the normal pattern that they have. Some form of incentive/disincentive is required. This works best if they are the ones that set that. An outside force often creates resistance. "You can't tell me what to do", might not be stated but it is there.

If after all your attempts to reason have failed the only prudent thing is to design around the problem.

I think you’re right.
I’m sure it’s habitual and 50+ years of it.

Probably just have to put a timer on the circuit like Tim said.

Count yourself lucky you've got a wife who actually does the laundry

You know what... I forgot something... That's another key point... My wife and I entered into a pre-marital contract where I would "manage" the laundry. It's up to me to deliver a clean basket of clothes... my wife does all the folding put/away, so technically *I* am in control of when the laundry is in the washer and dryer.

I still feel lucky. :)

I've kind of solved this problem by using a heat pump dyer. I was able to secure an open box from best buy with a 3 year warranty for somewhere around $300 US. We also went with a heat pump water heater. No problem running everything at once. I also believe we can get a tax credit for the appliances when we do taxes.

That's very modern of you , you're positively a feminist!

Good rant.

Can't this be solved with an extra battery or two and some meditation?

- At some point the infrastructure needs to serve the people, not the other way around.
- At some point I found it helpful to recognize and enjoy (or at least not be annoyed by) the embedded traits in my family members.
- My spouse washes clothes too frequently. She doesn't do dishes as often as I'd prefer so that's become my task. She splits and stacks far more than her share of the firewood. She thinks about food needs well before the 45 mile grocery run so I'm not eating sardines all day.
- She tolerates me spending too much time on the internets.

Buy her a battery for Valentine's Day. ;)

I fail to see the problem.

This is a justification to buy more solar & batteries.

yes, yes - the Wife Limit Motif, equal budgets

finally got my system big enough with even the electric stove on battery.

power grid breaker is turned off to the inverter
now I use Chargeverter to float the battery (using grid) at low voltage but still with some battery reserve. When the sun comes out and charges the battery enough, chargeverter is turned off automatically

I use the main inverter to invert NOT to charge batteries

to me, that is a GREAT FEATURE
