EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra

There's definitely a market for these items. Not everyone wants a generator, and many folks don't want solar panels. It's nice to see some beefier offerings that can actually power some useful loads.

I was at ces yesterday and the ones on display were non functional so I didn't get any good information on it. I'll get one when they sort out the firmware. They said they don't want to send me anything until it's working perfectly.

Pretty expensive. So much easier to connect an all in one to some server rack batteries. Easier to expand too. And lower in price.

Hard to see how they are generally practical. The reviews never show how you actually move and lift one of these for indoor setup in the dark during outages. The marketing often shows them already setup sitting in a large empty kitchen. I doubt most people can just leave one sitting in a kitchen.

I love that they will send out what must obviously be preproduction definitely-not-ready-for-market units to people who will shill/not test... Then won't send you one because you'll expose the half baked/non-functional bits.

Hobotech did a good review and was a bit annoyed by the Proto type version he got sent. It had some issues.

True enough but you know people..
There are truly some Luddite’s out there who want the convenience but not the tech.

@Will Prowse Would an EG4 6000xp fit on top of a Ruixu server rack? Like you did with the lv6048 on top of the eg4 server rack.

First I wanted to go the Ecoflow route. 2 delta pros can run a house.
But it was too expensive just as a backup solution that wouldn't be used much. Just doesn't make sense for such a high price. So I went the generator route. Much cheaper and unlimited backup when hooked up to the house gas line.
Then I realized that you can DIY it for half the price and still get the 30% federal credit.
Then I realized you can do a battery-less solar set up for the same DIY price, but have it pay for itself by grid tying it.

Where will I end up?

These ecoflows are good gateway systems into the DIY world

Wow, it seems every youtuber and their mother is getting / reviewing these units!!

It does look pretty interesting. Seems like it's relatively easy to setup, and using the Smart Panel 2 for critical loads and for managing TOU arbitrage is cool.

Bummer it doesn't allow for the grid-tied solar on the roof to keep working when disconnected from the grid. I guess that's only an option in full-blown-systems like Powerwall, Franklin, Enphase, etc? Do any of the DIY systems provide this kind of functionality?

Grid tied all in one inverters do I believe

Like a lot of folks, I've been waiting for a single 240v unit. I had considered the DIY route with new 6kW EG4 and rack mount batteries. But I like that the EcoFlow Ultra is self contained and a cleaner execution. I'm fine with not grid-tied; I'm not interested in the Utility hassle of grid-tied and California isn't paying much anymore for electrons. So I'll keep my electrons to myself :)

This EcoFlow Ultra is attractive to me on three fronts:
  • all-in-one 240v. Enough to drive my backup 240v air-conditioner (meets LRA and RLA specs)
  • self contained and passes the wife-test.
  • transportable. In an outage, I might need electrons here, or I might need electrons there (I have a house + barn)
For now, I'm going to skip the EcoFlow smart panel. I am the perfect candidate for it because of my distributed loads. But from a practical standpoint, I only have 3 critical loads: 120v refrigerator, 240v backup (corded) air conditioner, 240v (corded) well pump. So 1 or 2 Ultras might meet my needs; and 2 would be nice for redundancy instead of single-point-failure. I have things intentionally corded so that I can just move plugs around as needed...

At this point, I'm still in wait-and-see mode. I like the Ultra better than the Anker F3800, but I really need to see a battery tear-down of the Ultra to confirm what is inside. EcoFlow tore down the inverter, but not the battery (yet).

Hello, New to the forum here, first time poster, been watching the youtube channel for a while.
So i’ve been looking around here, youtube, signature solar for a system to fit my needs.
Kind of a long post so apologies up front.

I live in an area that has frequent power outages in the winters at all hours. My job in public safety can have me gone from the house for hours on end at times. The thing that started me really looking was I had a flooded basement 30 some inches of water in a couple hundred square feet. I was gone on a lot of calls not able to get home and get a generator going for the sump pump. I started with an SEC america sump pump UPS with about 400Ah 12v system. And if the pump isn’t going nuts that gives me a decent buffer, 6-12 hours in the winter when it’s raining and the batteries were new. It’s time to change batteries and makes sense to upgrade. I have talked a little with signature solar (still working) and have looked at the Ecoflow delta pro Ultra with their smart sub Panel.

If I’m understanding the inverter and panel combination you can use their app and control power from grid to charge batteries if you aren’t getting enough solar to recharge during the day. Run the sub panel daily on the battiers and reduce your grid power usage. I do not think it can net meter, which is fine. But the panel essenatilly looks like a UPS when using the ultra which would be great to have things backed up when the power goes out.

I thought I heard from one of the youtube folks i was looking at that ecoflow updated their firmware in the last month or so is this true?

Thanks
