Cheap Emergency Dual-fuel Generator for EG4 6000XP Recommendation?

I have the WEN 11000... It's been a great dual fuel generator... It's done a fantastic job at running my welders

But I don't know how clean it is... My guess is not cleaned at all

Champion open frame 6260W
I bought this champion inverter generator new on Amazon and added the motor snorkel. Works great with my 6000xp. All in was under $500, hell of a deal. Ran some gas to break it in but then drained it and hasn’t seen gas since.

Extended storage and not needing to run it dry are why I want dual-fuel.
added the motor snorkel
That is a good option, although for merely force-feeding batteries the smaller (3750?) inverter dual-fuel is preconfigured and a bit less moula.
Actually for merely running a charger I think that I saw their little suitcase inverter gen was also dual fuel and less than $400.

I bought the 6250 because it is 120/240V so it runs the 120V welders; not really sure yet if it’s adequate for the 240V TiG in watts for thicker stuff, but if that turns out to be not enough I’ll sell it, get an 8000W, and buy the 2000W suitcase for system battery charging. (I’m 100% no grid)

Interesting idea! Didn't know that the motor snorkel existed. Thanks.

It took me about 1/2hr to install and deal with the the anxiety to drill two holes where I did in the frame to mount the regulator....but worked out perfectly. Once you tune it properly for your usage, it's really efficient. I tuned it around the 80% run capacity mark for 4000w of consistent output. I will say that you probably want two tanks on a parallel manifold to keep tanks from freezing up. Worked fine with one until the tank got to about 25% full.

Thanks for posting. With those add-on deals, does the gas keep flowing if the generator stops? That’s always been my concern.

In my testing with the motor snorkel, it stops the flow if generator stops. Since there is no vacuum in the carb, the mounted demand regulator does not allow propane to pass through. This is only my experience and your milage may vary though and would contact the vendor of the add-on product to make sure.

This is the exact reason I decided to get a manual start though, to make sure if it does stop I can verify before trying to start again.

I picked up a smaller refurbished 120v Firman generator when eBay was having a 20% off sale last month - ended up getting an electric start, dual fuel (it'll never see gas) for like $311. It looked new, hooked it up to propane and ran a tank dry in a few test runs. Electric start FTW!

I was having 2nd thoughts about my 120v only route, and was considering this 240v unit based on my experience:

This one for $700 seems like a good deal, again based on my experience with a single refurb I got.

Been eyeing this Firman, its the smallest Dua/Tril fuel 120/240v with electric start. But THD is 11 to 14%.

Interesting, why APL mode. I'm almost positive I'm in UPS mode with same inverter generator.

Initially, I too ran it in UPS mode. My inverter charger would shut down after a while - e.g. one hour or two - of running on generator power. However, it also was shutting down when I connected grid power to it. And my grid power is probably "clean". So, it likely is not a generator issue but an issue with my wiring. Ground problems? I could not figure it out. I have it in APL all the time now and 0 problems.

this exact gen fried 3 of my 6500ex's back to back i think it was because it was the non inverter model so i would suggest an inverter gen just to be safe and easier on things
@MidwestBest, It is an inverter generator

they make a non inverter version as well. thats why i specified it was the non inverter model. just wanted to me sure people are careful when buying. my dad had bought the non inverter one because it was a little bit cheaper and i borrowed it for when i wasnt making enough solar.
