Dad Jokes (let's hear your worst! ;-)

Those of us with solid front axles understand this. Instead of a speed range, my warning would be more like, "Don't hit that damn expansion joint!"
It unfortunately caused me to sell my Ford. Was terrifying the first time it happened and I was hauling my tractor down a mtn.
I’ve since learned that it seems fairly reasonable to “fix” but now I just stick to my IFS rigs lol

Death Wobble was a new term to me when I bought my F-350. I've had it three times since 2017. The first time was my fault. I didn't put enough force on the WDH, which allowed too much weight to be removed from the front axle and I hit a very rough expansion joint. The second time was also my fault. I dialed down the Rancho shocks for a better ride while not towing and hit something. The third time, the steering stabilizer was shot and Ford replaced it under a customer service campaign. When (not if) it happens again I'll take it to the local aftermarket truck repair center and have them go at it. I would do it myself but there's a nut that requires 450 lb/ft and my torque wrench goes up only to 300 lb/ft.

I see this as excellent justification to buy more tools.

Normally, I would agree with you. My brother is a Snap-On dealer, so I get a decent discount. But I just don't want to spend the money right now since I recently bought $600 of tools from him. The other factor is that while I'm a decent mechanic, I have zero experience dealing with steering components.

What would the Snap-On offering cost?

Here's Harbor Freight's 600 ft-lb torque wrench for $400

Some of theirs I've seen way out of spec.

I recently bought this one, to do harmonic balancer bolts.
(Until now I've just wailed on it with impact wrench.)

Aligning front end is something I don't have the equipment for.

Or $900 used

Bit less, $650, for different mechanical model

And then there are torque wrench extensions. But not sure about the hardware for your application.

I would loan you mine, if you were close enough.
I have a Snap-on L72T 3/4 drive ratchet head, with 3 piece handle.

I have two of the digital torque wrenches. I defaulted to another digital, but it's not necessary. I suspect that at 450 lb/ft, being off by 20 lb/ft probably isn't a big deal.

My 1/4" digital torque wrench was acquired used. Works great! I've tested it on my brother's torque meter and it's right on the money.

Three more payments and you'll get the sockets that go into that plastic case you bought.
