I have a modified sign wave 2500 amp inverter/charger on my 2002 Motorhome. Im having a 600 watt Renogy kit installed. I’m wondering if I can get pure sign by adding a pure sign inverter to my current system without popping for $1600 new pure sign inverter/charger?

ok. My bad I ment Watts ?

My bad. I thought that you made a mistake. That’s a ton of charging amps.If one is around it likely be commercial.

thanks folks for your reply’s. Not being very well versed in this I get easily confused. I’m not sure I got an answer I was hoping for. Is there a way to just add a device that could be inserted into my system that would change the modified sign wave coming out of my inverter charger to pure sign for use throughout the coach?

With panels/charge controller from any company,
It's becoming a modular system.

Panels, batteries, charge controller, inverter...
All modular and all replaceable as single units.

The only thing I would add is an AC (shore power) battery charger.
Batteries get charged FULLY every time you plug the vehicle in with an extension cord or run a generator.

That covers you all the way around...

The folks that don't have an education in electricity, particularly solar/batteries/inverters prefer a combined unit because it's simple to install, pretty much idiot proof.
Combined units are a pain in the posterior for guys that want to expand, modify, and/or have 'Off Spec' requirements.

Watts are Watts,
No matter where they come from.
I built a generator/charger for a guy, attached to the axle of a horse drawn wagon...
Try and find a 'Combined' unit that will accommodate that!
(Talk about HORSE POWER!)

I’m not an expert by any means but I wouldn’t feel safe having two inverters in series to the system. That adds another failure point to the system. Somehow you would want to have the modified inverter removed. Not sure if you can do that in a combo unit. I completely understand not wanting to drop 1600.00 dollars for a new combo unit. Maybe someone else in the blog has a better idea. The combo units are very convenient.

Don.
