Chargery BMS now with Low Temp Cutoff

I am using BMS8T with Deltec 500A/50mv shunt instead of the supplied 300A/75mv unit. While the relays they supply are pretty heavy duty, I "may" switch them out later depending on how my system evolves with the new stuff coming and how I program my software management system using Modbus (writing it myself - 30 yrs of coding programs) .

Looking at the 600A BMS16T ... I think i will order one to play with it here at work to see if any of the "Factory Smoke" escapes ... We had looked at these in the past and for some reason skipped using them - i have no idea why -- but will give it a shot .. Thx

Just ordered a Chargery BMS16T BMS With 300A Shunt For 2S-16S LiFePo4 LTO with 1.2A Balance SOC and Display for $140.00 delivered .. of course everyone is on Chinese New Year until 01 February so the email response i got said Delivery will be 15 FEB .. thx fine .. plenty of other things to melt around here until then ..

I’m impatiently waiting. I ordered the 300 amp BMS8T before Christmas. It showed that it made it to the local post office this morning. I have the 500 amp shunt that will need to be calibrated.

I know you'll be happy with it, just read, then re-read, ponder & re-read the docs again, they are slowly being revised for clarity. Forbid to throw in fire.... oivey ! I do recommend getting abetter calibrated shunt, I like the Deltec's as they are bang on always and used by all the major players. For $30 Canadian (I'm a canuck so...) just can't be beat.

The "included" shunts are already pre-calibrated to the BMS in question but if you replace it with another, it will need to be calibrated. Not hard, just a PITA step. Failure to calibrate shunt will force a line drop due to the error code for safety reasons.

PS: Double Sided Velcro makes for easy to secure BMS remote etc.

I just watched a video on YOUTUBE on how to calibrate the shunts -- the one that Chargery had sent was 10A off but the clalibration was easy ...

Got a big roll of 3M double sided tape. I had 2 Daly 60 amp BMS stuck to the plastic protector above the battery. Thought I was gonna bust them during removal. Thanks for the info.

@Steve_S
Hi steve, any chance you happened to verify the accuracy of the low temp disconnect, once you had set it up?
I remember Will having checked another 'make' and it proved to be rubbish. Just curious...i know how you love to tinker with these things :)

I received an email this morning from Jason Wang @ Chargery that they will make attempts to contact @Will Prowse to get him a BMS or two for his own review after I prompted them to do so. I hope that this can happen quickly so that Will can have some fun and to further enlighten folks about another good BMS that is available. The Chargery people are scheduled to return to work on Feb.10th, delayed due to the Coronavirus thing going on.

With that said -- I highly recommend that if you think you are going to get one you do it BEFORE @Will Prowse does his video ... with the avg of 250K viewers watching his clips Chargery will up their price instantly or run out .. we have seen this several times with batteries he has recommended and other accessories .. Heck there was a cheap $30 volt/amp meter that i recommend the other day and Amazon sold out of it in 6 hours .. I dropped the seller a note asking what happened and when would he get more in on AMAZON PRIME and he said he had had 35 in stock the day before and normally sold about 2 a week but had had all 35 go in a 6 hour time span ... SOOO yes .. there is ppl looking at what is being said on this forum and using that info ... SOOO you can just imagine if @Will Prowse recommends Chargery the prices will go through the roof ...

With that said -- I really REALLY like the Chargery -- we now have 3 of the 16T models and have found nothing wrong with them at all --

LMAO well I ordered mine direct from Chargery they are being dropped to the courier on the 10th and then air-freight to here. I doubt they will raise prices but resellers may. I tossed the idea of adding a Bluetooth "module" and various ways such could be done at Jason and so now that is being pondered... They pondered my suggestion for the Cold Temp cutoff & management and Voila quite quickly, but that was a firmware fix, so not so hard. I also sent him the links to the Forum, this post and the main website as well as will Youtube channel (did similar with the Xuba Battery Cells people, they checked it too ! ;-) ) so they know this is all very real and can be good for business if they are smart about it. nope, no pressure lol

I'm thinking about going with Chargery's BMS8T-100 for the 280Ah prismatic cells. Does this seem to be the best BMS for this setup? So it seems best just to email Jasson @ Chargery to order and make sure I get a V 3.03

The BMS8T-100 is 100A so it comes with the 100A shunt. I would suggest a BMS8T-300A so the shunt & programming handle up to 300A. Better to have the capacity room than to overshoot and cause issues. price difference is only a couple of bucks. I run 24VDC, I can hit 100A draw easily just by turning on the microwave (1200w inverter type) and my coffee maker, if my water pump kicks on (120V soft-start deep well grundfos) it will ramp to 1100w by the time it reaches max pressure. Of course if I was running 48V it would be half the amperage drawn, 12V would be double of what I draw.

You can email Jason, with the parts you want and he'll setup a PayPal Invoice or Visa - however you want to do it.
The BMS you want. Any relays you want (cheaper through them) Delay Board if you want one. *Note on relays. They all use 12VDC to trigger from the BMS the amperage rating is for the maximum throughput amps they can handle.

EDIT: The software version is an easy upgrade, just flash it from a windows PC using their software, USB - interface cable is provided. Very easy to do, only takes a few seconds for each component. NOT MANY BMS' allow for firmware updates.

How many temp sensor does this BMS have?

Considering buying this instead of the Ant BMS for my other BYD packs but I really need multiple sensors to have accurate data for low temp cut-off

(Ant BMS is great but want to explore alternative options)

Thank you! How long it takes to get to Canada? (I'm in Northern Ontario, hopefully faster than NE :p )
I don't want to hazard a guess at this time because of everything being so screwy around that coronavirus thing. But "if" it get's out to courier on the 10th I could have it within 7 days but customs and all that crap takes time too but not much. Last time I ordered, they shipped on Dec.05 and it arrived on Dec.13 via DHL.
