I was an electrician, amongst many other things, I am fascinated by conspiracy theories and why they persist, even when they are illogical. I am also keenly aware I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, so please take my comments with a kilogram of salt.

My wife is mad at me for continuing to participate and I explained to her that I find it absolutely fascinating to see how people's minds work or don't when it impacts their tribal values. This is like a microcosm of what we are facing as a culture. If we were talking about an engineering or electrical problem, and alternative methods to deal with it, we would still get a split of people on how to deal with a problem but nothing like this. They would actually dig into the data and argue their position.

I believe in one conspiracy theory. GM sold patent when they scrapped the EV1 when CARB relaxed zero emissions. Big oil (Texaco/Chevron) held patent on large format NiMH batteries was used to delay EV industry about 10 years.

I don't know the % of people in India who were vaccinated when the delta variant showed up, but currently over 1.1 billion people have been vaccinated there. It's not like they aren't getting vaccinated.
I'm sure virus and bacteria don't replicate the same way, but bacteria mutate and become antibiotic resistant when they come into contact with an antibiotic but aren't completely killed off. Isn't it just as possible .... or maybe even more likely ..... that the virus mutated in people who had been vaccinated but had a break thru case? There are a LOT of variants of the virus ..... they were up to G the last I knew.
Isn't that what the flu does .... keep mutating and staying ahead of the vaccines? There are many strains of the flu. It's a guessing game every year for what strain will be most prevalent so they know what to put in the flu shot.
The current mRNA vaccines aren't as effective against the Delta variant as the original Covid they were designed for ..... couldn't that be because the virus has come into contact with the vaccine and it mutating to protect itself .... virus are REALLY tricky buggers and treating them has been tough for a long time.
I chose to get vaccinated because I thought it was the best decision for ME ..... If I was 30 years old and in good health, it's very likely I would have made a different decision.
I'm just sick and tired of the unvaccinated being vilified as if they were the scourge of the earth and responsible for every problem we have ..... they need to be fired if they don't comply. The current hospitalization rates and death don't justify this. I don't see ANY justification for forcing young children to be vaccinated. It is possible the complications from the vaccine can be worse than the virus in some age groups ..... YES, there are people dying from complications from the vaccine. It will be years before we know the extent of that because they try to hide that data.
People need someone to be angry at for all the death and trials for the last couple of years .... why don't we direct that anger at the people who actually created and released this virus on the world? Why don't we spend more angry energy trying to learn from how it happened and prevent if from ever happening again?
I'm just fed up with people being turned against other people .... kids being taught they are racist just because they have a certain skin color .... other kids being taught they don't have a chance because those other evil kids with a different skin color are trying to subjugate them. What ever happened to teaching that what matters is the content of your character.
I think a lot of this anger against the unvaccinated is another tool for those that want to divide us to the point total chaos breaks out.
We are warned over and over again that we have to be vigilant against those evil supremacist's but it is perfectly OK for other groups to go around the country burning things down .... where are all those evil people we are warned against .... I don't see them.
We gotta stop letting those talking head push our buttons ... convince us that we need to hate and despise those OTHER people who aren't like us ..... they have figured out very well how to divide us against each other.
Well, it's a nice day and I've got a lot of leaves to deal with ..... so, to all the haters ..... have a good time stirring up more hate. But really ..... just stop it!

The manipulation of the democratic voting system falls on the former guy.... Not the current administration.
Some cannot see covid as a health issue. Paranoia seems to be clouding many people's thinking.

Survival mutations require an effective pressure in order to become dominant, this seems like common sense. More deadly mutations are actually a negative if it impacts their ability to spread, but a combination of the two can be especially deadly in the short term.
From today's presentation to FDA advisory committee. Booster works very fast (divergence at 7 days post vaccine) and significantly increases protection. This chart is vaccinated with two-dose 6 months out vs booster. Note two cases in booster group met the definition of serious infection but that was only because O2 dropped below 93. No hospitalization needed. This was a randomized controlled double-blind study. The group started with all double vaccinated Pfizer patients and then half the group was given a booster (blue line) and half given saline shot (red line---placebo).

This is not a survival mutation ..... it is the rise of Totalitarianism. Putting too much pressure on something can have the opposite result .... especially in a country that demands freedom.
Feeding the growing tribalism in this country is a BAD thing, not a good thing.
We are not going to eliminate this virus .... and just like the flu and aids will continue to mutate and is not going away. We can keep it at a lower level, but it will continue to kill the weakest among us just like the flu does already.
Everyone is just going to have figure out their way of protecting themselves from it. We can protect ourselves from it without vilifying and trying to destroy other people.
By doing research, I have found a number of strategies that I am confident will keep me and my family safe without compromising the freedom of others who choose their own way.
We need to hold to hold to account those agencies that were responsible for protecting us from this pandemic.
If you look at deaths per capita so far in this pandemic .... the United States is number 19 of around 200 .... ..... in the HIGHEST number of deaths per capita.
It is NOT the unvaccinated that have caused that terrible failure ..... We are one of the highest and earliest vaccinated countries in the world and have one of the worst results.
We need to be focusing more on where this virus came from and preventing an even worse one from coming on the scene .... and developing solid early treatment protocols like other places have that have nearly eliminated this virus.
Focusing all our attention to one things has given us a disastrous result.
So Shale is talking about mutations in viruses and Bob B must be in a state with legalized weed.

How do you propose to do that? No nation is unaffected by this. The best solution right now is a vaccine and a large portion of the population is refusing to take a free shot that minimises the risk to themselves and others. How would any agency be responsible for that?

You have people in close proximity to each other who spend a lot of time inside due to work and weather. The unvaccinated die at over 10 times the rate of the vaccinated, so yes, the unvaccinated are making this a LOT worse then it has to be.
Scientist did and still do, there are labs all over the world that research viruses, they need funding. But that is a whole other debate and I am unqualified to decide how much to spend and where.
China nearly eliminated the virus, but they have enforced quarantines with roadblocks. New Zealand closed all international travel, but as soon as they opened up, things got worse.
The scientific and medical communities are looking for lots of solutions and you can see the logic. The first response is a lockdown, they work really well if ALL people follow them, I did and still do (too many didn't). Second response is find treatments, sadly there is no know cure for virus. Third choice is a vaccine to teach our immune system to respond quickly and effectively to the virus. The MRNA vaccines are really quick to develop (2 weeks) but testing of all vaccines takes a long time and a lot of money.
I agree that the US (and most countries) could have done better, but some people were hell bent to make it political issue, and while we are at it, I think the "Herman Cain Awards" are a distasteful joke.
If covid continues as it is today we will need maybe 50% more hospital beds, probably 70% more medical personnel to help the existing along with operate the new facilities. Who pays for this?
Vaccination seems like far lower cost.

Most antivaxers don't want to board that train of booster shots. Not sure why you think the vax lasts more than 6 months ?
I like ivermectin because there isn't anything else near as good for home treatment.
The mono-clonal antibody shot is also good but do it early.

.....but .... You are ignoring the fact that there are about 180 countries who have a lower death rate per capita in this pandemic ... All of those countries have a lesser percentage of people vaccinated than the US.
Some of these countries have a death rate per capita that is about 10 times less than the the US.
So why does the vaccine, vaccine, vaccine mantra continue as the ONLY thing officials are pushing? There are obviously other factors that are more important than getting vaccinated.
Some of those countries have done more vigilant shutdowns that the US ....and some of them have not .... so, that isn't the variable that's relevant.
Why are so many other countries having so much better success preventing death from this virus than the US?
Right so how do we pay for the additional facilities required to continue on the conservative path?
US has much more international travel than most of those other countries. Another variable is that record-keeping and death recording is not going to be up to par in third world countires.

Herman Cain had stage 4 cancer; so covid did him in, but his immune system was non-existent.
Trump trusted the wrong people at the start (Birx and Fauci) and now the authoritarians are running the show, ordering doctors to use awful treatments like remdisivir, which destroys people's kidneys.
If we ever get a change of leadership, things can only get better.
Been transported to hospital lately for non-covid and get treated in the hallway?
