Victron is Over-priced Eurotrash. Why would anybody buy Victron over an AiO?

I just took a Blue Sky controller off my old system that was operating for 15 years without a single issue.

Only reason I replaced it is it was 12 volt 30 amp and not designed for the new LFP batts I installed.

They are still in business but I went with a Renogy Wanderer I was sent to review.

I hear good things about Victron but out of my range and overkill for my system.

If they want to send me one to review though I won't turn it down!

For those familiar with my post-whoring ways, this subject line is likely quite shocking.

Just trying to make a point...

Seemed a good lead into the question.

The answer?

Because Victron is worth it. It's a small company run by people who give a shit and care about their product, its performance, features and the user experience.

Problems?
  • 5 year warranty - can be serviced by any Victron distributor. Can upgrade to a 10 year warranty for 10% the purchase price. If you have a problematic distributor, you can submit a warranty claim directly through Victron. Someone claiming Victron doesn't honor warranties is doing it wrong.
  • Community forum - not 100% successful, but most legit questions/issues get addressed either by Victron, Victron installers or power users.
  • Wealth of information available online.
  • Documentation is continually improving.
  • Wiring Unlimited.
Features?
  • Son of the founder personally oversees the development of the Venus OS.
  • New features based on user requests or new equipment are regularly added to all types of hardware.
  • Firmware updates to older hardware is still actively released due to the newest hardware sharing common firmware even if not all features are available on older hardware.
Why do I have blue smudges on my lips from all this Victron butt-kissing?

Because Victron does shit like this:

Then, after a month of feedback from users and obvious improvements, they pull this shit:

I've personally watched my own system get increasingly more accurate.

Why in the world offer this feature? How can it possibly benefit the company? Because it's run by people who love this stuff. They see the value, they use their own hardware, and they probably just think, "dang... this is really cool."

I'm confident in saying that there's no other company on the planet in this space that is this actively engaged with their user base.
I think I learned a new term’clickbait’. Being an old guy current vernacular sometimes escapes me.
Back to the point - for years I wouldn’t even consider Victron. Wayyyy too expensive, blah, blah, blah….
After a couple “Bluebox” purchases (after reading the forum for the RV I purchased), for my RV solar, Victron is the ONLY brand I’ll use for MPPT, battery monitors, and the like. For me it’s the Victron Connect app.

Have the Multiplus 24v 3k and love it. Multiplus ll is on the short list for my next build.

Midnight Classic is a Beast. Unlike some of the newest units which are under 20 amps this thing handles 80 amps of solar input if wanted!

At least it will last a lifetime.
This is all hearsay and not provable...

How much would it cost to build a Victron system capable of 16.8kW output, and how much space (and cabling) would it take, compared to this Ananji set up, which is £1,095?

Sounds pricey, but also sounds like a pretty specific edge case that would be big time overkill for the vast majority of people. Under what conditions do you foresee needing 24,000W continuous?
That's a non-answer. A 6kW Victron system would cost five or more times as much as a Voltronic based All In One - like an Anenji for £288:

You trust Anenji for all your solar kilowatt needs and signed up for this website to let us all know.

Bless your heart. ???

Your reply presumes that Anenji inverters are rubbish and Victron inverters are five or more times better... Without any evidence.

I sold my jeep (cost me about $600/mo in just gas) and bought a tesla.

I like what you've done switching gas for solar, but am curious about one thing. Did you already own the jeep outright or was that still being paid off, and how does that balance out vs the cost of the new Tesla?

There has always been 3 levels of watch’s .. Rolex- Bulova -Timex…They all tell the time.

Plenty of examples of failed voltronic products on here along with poopy software etc.

It's you who needs to do the proving boy.

They are not immortal.

I for one am perfectly happy with my Sungold TP6048 which is a voltronic.

I don't mind that some believe in victron is all that's worth buying.

I personally don't feel the same :)

Id much rather have a schneider xw over anything victron ever dreamed of or probably ever will.
