2024 YouTube Video Ideas

I'm probably one of the few on the opposite side. I blog about it, and I invite people over (that are local to me anyway) to have an idea what it takes and what's possible.
I think you're pretty safe, at 63-degrees North Lat...
I too try to mentor some people that show interest. Last summer I was able to help a friend get started in solar to support his small business. It was a great feeling to be able to help out, and guide them around some of the solar pit-falls.

I would like to see videos covering all the install parts and tools in addition to your great tests of the larger components that you already do. It may not be as exciting as seeing the latest aio, but very important for a good install. I have been messing around with small systems (DIY milk crate setup and a bit larger). In the next 3 to 5 years I hope to build an off grid home or add a 16kw array and inverter charger setup where I am at currently. That system will need to be inspected by my county so listed parts are what I need to find.

Sorry for the large list....?

What to look for in quality parts (wire, terminals, disconnects, breakers, fuses, fuse holders, combiner boxes, mc4 connectors etc...)

Sources of quality and UL rated parts and or how to find those sources since search engines are getting worse as far as getting the same results over and over. I believe there are sources I just can't find.

Racking options for both small and large arrays in mind. Attention given to value and difficulty for a home owner to install themselves.

In your reviews please mention whether or not the item is UL listed for those of us that will need inspections.

Tour vendors such as current connected, NAZ, Signature solar and others. Interview them about their products, services, sales, equipment that they have seen works well for customers etc.

Do the different batteries available communicate well with other brands equipment such as Victron etc?

Product options and ideas on how to minimize power usage to Make a system go further in daily use.

AIO vs component setups like victron. Pros and cons on install, reliability, efficiency, self consumption.

What parts to keep spares of.

Conceptual videos where you take a hypothetical situation and different budgets and explain what components you would use for them and a basic cost and performance breakdown.

Thank you for your videos, they have helped me so much!

That does it!!!!

Will takes a road trip to see @upnorthandpersonal for a system tour!!!!

Don't get me wrong. I'm happy to help local people.
I have shown my system (as it is so far) to several people. I just don't have any interest in it being on YouTube. lol

In reality, would be an excellent way for Will to travel the world.

"I'm in China where most of the cells we use are made"
"Today we visit the land down under...."
"As you can see from these nearly flat panels, we are on the equator"
"Up here in Alaska, it's bleeping cold!"

I absolutely despise traveling. I do it for educational purposes but it is not for me. It makes me more closed-minded actually and judgmental. I need to stop reading so much history as well ?

There are some who call me Tim

Follow. But! Follow only if ye be men of valor! For the entrance to this cave is guarded by a creature so foul, so cruel, that no man yet has fought with it... and lived!

I'm going to start putting panels in some really weird places on my property
Def gotta do custom engineered all south sloping carport with solar panels doubling as a roof. Can probably fit 20 kW of panels up there. Then do east or west facing solar panel fence. Don't worry we will figure out what to do with all this power (hint: b...n).

What if we disguise your voice to make you sound like a cartel member or informant undercover and blur your face ?

"Greedy power Companies hate this man, avoids power bills using this one simple trick"

"He asked that we not show his face on camera due to past run-ins with meter readers accusing him of power theft"

What are reasonable life span expectations on various equipment - Victron, MPP Solar, EG4 etc MPPT and Inverter components, BMSs on popular 5kwh rack batteries.

I admit, I don't know how one would go about making a vid on this - but my AIMS control board needed capacitors replaced after just 5 years / 25,000hrs - and I'm not sure if this is good or normal or bad and as solar matures, I'm sure many would be interested in just how long one should expect things to last / budget for replacement or upgrades.

“So, notTim’selectric, tell me your secrets. You’re a bit of an enigma in the solar world. Rumor has it you once ejected a CME off your roof. Others have said that you don’t use energy, that energy uses you.”
“What would you like to say to our viewers whom seem to think that a diesel electric truck would evaporate into thin air?”

“I understand your concerns about privacy thanks for taking the time today in showing us a 1/5th scale replica of your array, my concern is that it still covers 3 city blocks”

I saw a few Victron videos on youtube that were of this theme. I thought it was very interesting. One video I remember was of a commercial saw mill running on solar and batteries. It was in the UK I think.
I saw this one:
How can this timber yard go off-grid, it uses so much power?
