Connect Raspberry PI 3 to Controller

Hello

To keep the wiring tidy I am thinking of connecting the Raspberry PI 3 direct to the controller at 12v.

Just wondering if anyone has done this ?

I will be looking to have a cooling fan as well.

I am looking to buy the Victron 100/50 Phoenix controller

Pi is only 5v so direct to 12v will let out magic smoke.

I use this12v to 5v buck converter. I bought the one with the type C terminal to plug into and power my Rpi 4.

Would something like this work?

Battery -> fuse box -> USB-C -> Pi3.

The PI 3 needs 5V at 2.5A.
The fuse box protects with a 3A fuse (but has others).
The USB-C outlet can do 5V at up to 3A.

that looks good to me and will give you some 12v options for later. I'd put an inline fuse before the fuse box.

Thanks guys and I have a 12v main box with fuses. So, I can put the converter after the box and then to the PI.
