Growatt SPF 5000ES firmware update

I bricked mine yesterday!
I also had the issue that i couldn‘t get past „sending start“
Then i found out that the never communication boards use a exar copr uart bridge instead of the sillicon labs one.

After i changed the driver to the "exar xr21v1410" ISP tool was finaly working (and looking perfect, as in the videos of others).
But then the shock.. after uploading both files, i rebooted the inverter and the :
Stuck.. not even display output anymorey
Only the 3led‘s above the display are blinking. Nothing else anymore.
Tried to reflash, i still can flash But the result is the same..

So be careful.
If someone knows more.. pleease tell me how to unbrick that thing ?

NOTE: Sometimes updating may fail, you may close the inverter by disconnect battery break and close ISP tool and disconnect USB line. Confirm the inverter is not power by battery or PV or utility. Then you connect USB line again, and open ISP tool do the same step as above, after you press Flash button, you let the inverter power on. Wait for several minutes the update will go on

This is in the document ?

Never had to try it, but worth a bash

i tried so many times, i cant immagine, that it will work when i try another 10times.
I don’t think its that. But thanks for the idea.

There is a 067 fw, i need that one, and then it will work again, im pretty sure.
The newest i found online is the 040 one.. from 4. Januar 22 but there also a 067 one, for the ones with the new communication board.

I even found that in this forum that there is 2comm boards:

I will send them a whatsapp and see if they can send the new firmware for the new comm boards

No reply from these fellows , tell me what ISP Ver are you using ? It seems it has to be Ver 4.30 , just have a peek at that.

Any update on your issue? were you able to resolve it using ISP v4.3?

seems this is the method, in case all goes south! As you said, worth a try, albeit, try this time changing laptops (probably to a Win7 one, and a tad older)?

Noni need version 6.. look on the above screenshot, i had that fw on before.
Ine has the new com board, wich uses newer fw‘s

try pressing the up & down together for 5 secs, then set the number in the middle to 305, click Enter, you should see reset menu with 034, click enter to confirm, then esc to exit.

That is a first for me 67.01 I thought you were saying you have 40.06 but there is now a 40.07 , have never seen that on any SPF5000ES ?
Thought of it, yet hesitated to say it in the fear of being hammered by the "think they know it all's" on this forum

Don't worry about the know all's, we here to offer help or ask what some may think are stupid questions, I just sent the screenshot to China but it's late now, will see what they say in the morning. If those numbers are valid, then I would think he needs to find that same firmware and re-flash back to what it was, and with any luck should be working again

I Also found tagt strange before..

@BeirutSolar not even the display works anymore ;)

I just have a picture from before the „update/bricking“ and you can see the fw version here:

If someone has the new fw, please send it to me.

I started another theard to document it:
Spf500es Bricked

@skylink
Thanks for the link to the german forum, i hope he doesnt try to downgrade xD
My best guess so far is to call support on Monday xD
Have you heard anything from the ones in china regarding fw 067xxx ?

I managed to brick mine as well, but mine was flashing, got the application error as many have had and then it crashed and stopped. I restarted it it got a little further crashed again and now it wont flash, wont pass send start. Just keeps on 3 LEDs with no blinking, no screen no alarms. I tried the whole cold start with flash as per the SOP but it doesnt work. Tried a different device as well. I have the old board and my comms was working, so i have the correct UART drivers. Any one get it back from this, or know how to force it to go into bootloader, if it even can. Or so i just go ahead and get the new board.

What ver of firmware did you try to install?

What firmware ver was on your device before you tried the update? also what ver of the ISP Tool did you use?
I was on version 041 02 907. I used ISP tool v4.30. I pretty much followed the documentation in this group. But when my ISP tool crashed I tried again with a cold start and it did allow me to connect but when it got stuck again it wouldn't communicate with the board anymore. I was hoping there is a method to get it to bootstrap or somehow flash again. The cold start flash doesn't work.

Well, it seems you've done it all to the book, I have never had the ISP crash and have done many firmware upgrades or even downgrades for some, I will have a chat with the fellows in china to see where we go from here, hope they still talking to me because I'm always bitching that there is never a changelog with any of the firmware, so what is it fixing? the first update from them helped to see the difference between the grid and solar on the web interface, the next I hounded them to get the SUB mode working, but after those, I don't have a clue what they have done except the last few have had the 22amp MPPT "üpgrade "

Thanks so much. Growatt hasn't responded to me since Sunday. So I guess they just don't respond. Yeah I read this thread over and over to try eveything. I even saw ISP crashing happens and people still recover. But with mine it seems its not going anywhere. The difference seems that mine has three solid led lights not flashing with a blank screen.
