Inverter screen "hieroglyphs" (7 segment number display)

I've been looking at an EG4 3KW or a Growatt 5KW inverter to build a starter system and I'm rather surprised at the confusing (at least to me) setup of either unit. They seem to use cheap 7 segment displays and represent various functions with various segments used to crudely approximate letters or names. I would have thought, in this day and age they could have used a display and have text based menus instead of all the gobbledegook. Is this the norm for all these inverters? Or is there an inverter that does have a real text based menu? Thank you!!

It is a genuine answer, buy low cost / budget equipment the trade off is lack of features and quality ( best case ).
