As near as I can tell, standalone split phase, and split phase master/primary are identical for all intents and purposes. The *biggest* difference between them is, standalone isn't trying to coordinate "transfer events" with another unit.
What that means in the real world is, switching time between the two modes are different.
standalone is much faster, than split phase primary, with no secondary units.
For most things, you probably wouldn't notice a significant difference. I did notice that in "primary" mode, a switching event would trip one of my UPS's into switching to battery for a few moments, where standalone didn't trip it.
