So long as the equipment starts shaking and making noise when started, higher power consumption like heater would go unnoticed for a while. "Load shed" disabling the L1 or L2 which supplies heater but not motor and controls (for all but newest dryers) could buy you some time; blame the appliance rather than your PV capacity.

While I don't have this personal problem, my washer only works off live solar with a battery only good enough for about ten minutes. A stopped washer full of wet clothes may curtail efforts at evening wash. I don't want to be around for what else it might create.
