Daly smart BMS

For the simple reason, it is not described on their website. And we don't have a manual to check. So I have to guess how the product works (to me it sounds trivial for a 'smart' BMS to allow discharge on low temps, but to me it is also trivial there is a manual that describes the functionality).

@John: Thanks for the feedback about the high voltage behaviour. So there it blocks for sure charging while allowing discharge.

Just to be clear on your feedback: at low temperature, you tested it blocks charging. But you didn't test it allowed discharge? That is how I should understand you feedback?
Yes, that is correct, it blocks charging, I did not test discharge. I did specifically ask for that when I ordered.

Well that just takes the cake. lol

I only have an iPhone so yesterday I had a friend over with a new Samsung Galaxy and I borrowed it, downloaded the Smart BMS app and it wouldn't even find my BMS. I unplugged the Bluetooth module and reconnected it several times and it made no difference. While my iPhone could connect to the BMS the Android refused to even see it.
I'm buggered if I understand what is going on.
I have ordered a USB Uart cable from eBay so I will try that on the laptop when it arrives and see if that works.
It's really weird as I can change other settings with the iPhone but not the battery capacity or battery type. I really want to get the SOC working so I can see what is happening and have the cycle count accurate.
Cheers
Bluetooth usually allows only one connection at a time, you might need to disconnect from your IOS app first before trying to connect from Android device.

I have the Daly Smart BMS 4s 12v 200a discharge. The bluetooth app was showing the right info for a while then started showing really incorrect info, like 8 temp sensors and 18 batteries. I tried closing the app, disconnecting BT on my phone, disconnecting the BT dongle, shorting the KEY pins, nothing worked, eventually disconnected B- and shorted it to P- which I guess resets the BMS and then the stats started showing properly again. for a few hours and then now its just happened again.

As near as I can tell, the Bluetooth dongle just converts serial port output to being visible via Bluetooth. If the serial port loses synchronization, this would be a likely result. Cheap solution with no error checking or correction is the result.

Dont believe it.
It's true. I was able to access and modify settings simultaneously in both (using the Sinowealth software (SH39F003) and the Smart BMS app on my iPhone 6s. System was working great until the next day when I went to wake the system up by initiating a charge, after redoing some connections Somehow, in doing so, the USB UART cable (labelled (Convertor USB-monitor) which went from my windows 10 computer com7 to the port with the chinese symbols on the bms (not yhe UART port, which is utilized by the Bluetooth device) stopped being recognized. It had been visible as a USB serial channel 340 on COM7 previously. Now bluetooth is still working allowing monitoring and some adjustments, but no PC visability or full modification of all parameters. This is a
RO5A-FLO5 4s 12v, 100amp, UART model. Such models will not communicate with the PC Master software (don't even try). Now to figure out what fried on my BMS and what to do about it.

Yep, only had one BT connection active at the time. iPhone was disconnected, off and in my pocket.

I have the 4S 80A version of the smart BMS. I'm also struggling with learning how to program it's settings. Does anyone know, off the top of their head, the AWG of the sense wires? Looks like about 22-26 ga? I have to extend the leads to fit the 280AH EVE cells unless someone knows of a snap in extension cable with the correct connectors?
You can go bigger on the extensions if you want.
I used 10 awg back to wago 221-613 lever nuts where they connect to the sense leads.
I have a free connection point on the wago in case I ever want to add an active balancer or similar.
If I had to do it again I would use 12 awg or even 14 awg wire.

The sense wires on my overkill bms are 22 awg.

I know 22 Guage crimp connectors work, they were the smallest I had.

Long time i was here but today got my BMS able to be configured.
Seems with the Sinowealth application i finally could do the parameters.

Although i became in the mean time more fan of the JBD BMS and have two of those also running on some 10S packs.

I have no problem using passcode 123456 and I can alter some parameters, but most annoyingly I can't alter the Battery Type or Capacity. I enter LiFePo4 but nothing appears and when I enter 200ah (my battery capacity) it enters some bizarre figure like 3.2ah. If I enter 50ah it will stick but if I enter 56ah it will change to 3ah of something like that. This also then screws with my SOC.
This 3,2 is not Ah, but nominal voltages of LiFePO4. Default (and correct) is 3,20 volt. I have this Daly Smart BMS (8s 250A withpout cooler). First day trying out. But I do not see it do any good with Balancing... Did any body see an Daly BMS balancing ever, without goining into an overcharged situation of one cell ?? My parameters: Balanced open start volt at 3,50 volt en Cell voltage High protect 3,56 volt, sum high 28,5 volt, sum low 21,6 volt 2,70 volt cell. Hoe krijg ik dit ding in vredesnaam aan het balanceren van mijn cellen. Nu zit mijn dikke 280Ah accu bij 27,1 voll !!! Kl&%e ! LOL

Using Google translate + some work, I have created the English version of the Sinowealth BMS Tool introduction document, including correct screenshots and translated tables.
Feel free to let me know if you find mistakes...
I tried that link and it comes up with Chinese text

I tired that link and got Chinese. What can I do?

Above 3.4 volts there is less than 5AH left. I have seen mine balance, but I set balance start at 3.4 volts. Really there is zero need to charge above 3.5 volts on a regular basis.

How can I get this in English? This BMS is driving me nuts. Please help!

Hi, just wondering whether the software detects the BMS without it being plugged into the batteries. I have the BMS plugged in via usb I want to configure it before I connect my batteries in series. Error message at the Port&IC settings says "Sorry! Don't find the available ports in the computer!"

Yikes, ws unaware of this message string re: the Daly and have been communicating in the BMS sizing forum topic. I just learned about the low voltage disconnect. I literally placed my order minutes ago, not knowing of Michael's group buy.

After getting this invoice, I was also made to pay the Alibaba fee of $5. They are asking for 15 days to ship or make and ship the BMS. I was given no quote for shipping time, but for $40, it should arrive on a Concord. A question I have is the "trade terms" section. Talks about "unloading" the goods and do import customs clearance?. That sounds like I have to go to Long Beach, unload a container, take it through customs, etc. This must be boilerplate and not related to my shipment which I expect will arrive via air at my door. Who has been through this and can confirm it will ship via air to my house? Thanks

I purchased 2 first then purchased another 4 from https://www.ebay.com/usr/srikobatteries?ul_noapp=true I had the first order on day 8 then the second order took 5 days and seemed like a good deal not having to wait a month. Everyone of my "Smart" BMS's came with all the cables (temps sen.'s, balance leads, usb cable). You have to watch his store (if you don't see the model you want) because when he runs out of stock he takes the listing down but he seems to put up another listing about a week later.

I asked a couple of times if there was a way to buy domestically and never got a reply so I thought I had no option but to go to Daly direct.

That's unfortunate, I'm sorry I didn't see it sooner. Perhaps there is a way to cancel the order without too much fuss?!?

Mine showed up when DHL delivered to my door. Don't worry.
