EG4 18kPV Q+A general thread

This may be the dumbest question ever, but here we go!

I just added a second PowerPro. Things seem to be running fine, but does the "second battery" show up anywhere in the dashboard to monitor it?

I think it's working because on the PowerPro screen the new "slave" battery is charging with no faults, and the "master" is discharging with no faults. I am guessing that is happening because the master is at 75% and the new slave is at 46% so they are trying to balance?

Am I missing something? Is there somewhere to look for more information about both batteries on the inverter/app/etc.?

It is generally recommended to charge batteries fully on their own, or at least have them at similar charge levels before connecting them together.

Woops. That is also going to be impossible without how I have them mounted and the gear I have.

Hopefully they will balance out. I feel like they have to be smart enough to figure this out?

They just parallel into each other and let the analog gods sort it out. It’s an electron free for all. The BMS is all or nothing.
I'm not smart enough to figure out what this means... Will they figure it out or should I try to balance them by powering off a battery and get both to 100% before turning both on?

Did you adjust the dip switch on the 2nd battery?

Did you connect the communication cable from battery 1 to battery 2?

OK...I am out of ideas.

Anyone seen anything weird here?

Looks like I'll have to reach out to SS and see if they can help me.

What kind of cable did you use for communication between the two batteries?

The provided green cable that came with the parallel kit.

Any specific cable I should swap out and try?
Is the firmware the same on both batteries?

Have you rebooted each BMS?

Is each battery programed for the same protocol?

Does the online user manual say anything that would be helpful?

We're both batteries purchased at the same time?

Is the cable labeled?
No label on the cable. I'll try another cable and see if I have any luck.

BMS's have been restarted several times.
Batteries purchased months apart.

It does look like firmware is different between the two. I'll see if I can track down the latest firmware and get them to match up.

The supplied green cable is the one to use, but it is a standard cat 5 cable.
The multiple battery monitoring may need firmware upgrades on the inverter and batteries, this is all relatively new stuff.
Also do you happen to know which type of dongle you have on the inverter.

Both dongle types provide basic battery details.
