Sorry I know this is an old thread, but you know the popular Victron Lynx 1000 busbars have the positive and negative cables running right on top of each other, which kinda bothered me in the design. What do you think of this?
I understand the design choice for compactness.

It may be correct that the BMS could open the circuit, but one has then to consider that FETs sometimes fail closed, especially under heavy load and if the BMS is the only protection for a high current short then there is some risk.

I feel the same way. I'm going to drill out the "lid" and have the positive and negative running out in opposite directions.

You'll enjoy this part of their explanation for the product:
"Each port has an isolator to keep enough distance between the cabling" while showing the 2 cables touching each other.... "What's important is that you have the cabling done correctly" which apparently means keeping them right next to each other. lol
