Seplos CAN BUS RS485 48v 200A 8S-16S BMS

We both have Solis inverter. I have also set to user-defined as it does not work otherwise. Looks like Seplos is not providing or providing wrong name to inverter. According to Solis CAN protocol, name is at 0x35E. I'm just wondering what Seplos has set at this address.
I have a suspicion that the CAN address needs to be different from default, but I haven't had chance to test that theory.

I spent half an hour on the floor under the inverter last night trying to update it with the flash drive they sent me (without any instructions ?‍♂️), and my legs were aching by the time I was successful so didn't want to spend any more time on it.

What firmware version you've got. I have updated mine just couple months ago.

I had originally HMI 2F and DSP 1F (version number = 2F001F). The flash drive they sent me contained 28062APP.bin and 28062API.bin. Apparently these are just update files for the DSP. Now I have Version 2F0025, so the DSP has updated but the HMI not. The options in the menus still don't match the later user manuals for the RHI 5G series. I have asked support for a download link for the HMI part.

it doesn' always meant CAN ID: 0X35E has bad information. @SEE https://solis-service.solisinverter...hybrid-inverter-battery-name-fail-batnamefail.

the seplos CANBUS protocole V1.0 documentation do not describe the values it send back for CAN ID 0X35E,
I suppose it should return something like

can0 35E [8] 50 59 4C 4F 4E 00 00 00

P Y L O N

but you can ask them.

Originaly my firmware was 0013 after upgrade couple months ago it went to 0033

Well it can be anything but if inverter can read all info except the name, I would be inclined to think that the name is wrong

Do you still have these files? I need to update my HMI.

It sounds from the error message that this is the case, however, on Solis site they say this error message is about multiple batteries being connected together wrongly... which makes me think its actually about CAN slave address.

I do have the files and can share them. Since your inverter is 5G, Solis shoudl be able to to OTA upgrade for it.

It's not connected to the internet. I did not purchase a wifi or gsm stick with the inverter.

Hello!
Sorry for my question between your discussion:
I have a Victron 3-phase System (Multiplus2, MPPT, Cerbo-GX) and a DIY 48V battery (Lifepo4 280Ah).

Now i hestitate between the two options:
- i keep my "independent" JBD-BMS and complete it with a Victron battery-monitor (for an realistic SOC)
or
- i replace my JBD-BMS with the Seplos

So my question: How mature is the Seplos until now in view of the communication and current/voltage-controlling with Victron?
Is the current/voltage-reducing option in the DVCC menu usable?
...and is the SOC-calculation of the Seplos good?

Thank you very much!
(Please tell if i should open an own thread)

Got new firmware yesterdayon Solis and it has more battery types. After setting battery type to AoBo there is no longer "BatName-FAIL"alarm and it seems to work as expected. AoBo look like a pylontech clone. I will test more but so far it is looking promising.

Can you post that firmware here please?

Does someone has an answer for my question?
Does the Victrons DVCC-Settings (Voltage- and Currentsettings/reduction) work with the Seplos-BMS?

According to their website yes it does :)

This should work on Solis RHI 4G and 5G. Versions HMI 33, DSP 22
Brilliant thanks.

Just had a go, my Solis already has Aobo in the battery settings, if i change to this i still get bat name fail, also realised to upgrade the firmware on these you need the USB firmware stick which I dont currently have

As @reklamos told me yesterday, Aobo on the Inverter, Sofar on the BMS. Works for me.

Has anyone managed to pull the voltages of the 16 cells over RS485 Modbus into Node-Red ? I just would like to get that into my dashboard

someone did it, unfortunately no english information, not sure source are available.

That's nice and a shame that the source isn't available. I'd like to build it and test it on ESP32 and perhaps make it a base for another project.

I'm currently working on an RS485-Wifi Bridge using ESP32 so I can connect the inverter to the current monitor in the consumer unit without using a long temporary LAN cable. The ESP32 makes it so easy to do wifi stuff, even easier than on the 8266.

Here you go, this is a shell script that I run from a Raspberry pi that pulls all the cell voltages, temps etc, could be made to write directly to influx to be read out in your dashboard, unzip the file, edit and change the TTY to your device and run ./seplos.sh 4201 not my work buy a ncie guy named Adam, not sure if hes on here.

Has anyone was able to do calibration for seplos to report real capacity. It says I need to do full charge/discharge cycle. I can fully charge it but I cannot get it to fully discharge to battery low voltage warning. As I get ramaining capacity alarm first but there is still juice inside cells.
