EG4 new AIO rated 12K output and 18kPV aka "EG4-18Kpv-12LV"

So was your issue fixed where it was only using grid power even when you had solar and battery fully?
I made this video prior to starting all the problems.

But around 5:30pm (after technical support reset it a couple of times, and i also saw they installed either a firmware or software) it started working, but in UPS mode not the way it was working previously. Before the problems started you could see the app this way, the inverter feeding the loads this way:

IMG_6879.png

Now in ups mode it looks like this:

IMG_6994.png
But its working, i turned off the grid and back on and the inventer continued working. I also tested cutting of the batteries at a higher % just to make sure it switched to the grid normally and it also did it fine.

I would love to hear back from technical support and know what they did and why its working as ups now, hopefully theyll let me know and ill post it here

Thanks a lot

the latest firmware update is for zero export, it acts like off grid mode. if you need a grid assist this firmware is not for you. DM me or SS if you want to change firmware.

For now and until i get approval i HAVE to stay zero export. I need grid assist along with zero export, just for the grid to take over when the batteries run low or for cloudy and rainy days.

Is that going to be fixed so there is one firmware version that supports both? Is that why the zero export firmware fix hasn't been released yet?

From my personal experience (running over 3 MWh thru my system so far), the 0E:0E firmware version works best for those who need grid assist (or to back-feed a main panel) with as close to zero export as possible. I typically see 0 or at most 0.1KWh export over the course of a day.
Version 10 was horrible for zero export as I think I had over 1KWh of export in less than a day when I upgraded to that.
Version 11 cuts the whole grid assist/backfeeding main panel option completely off and the system runs in off-grid mode only feeding the critical load panel (or whatever is connected to the load connections).

I've been back on 0E:0E for a full week after running the other "newer" firmware versions for a day and I think I only saw any export on 1 or 2 days at most and that was 0.1KWh. My solar assistant charts also confirm less than 200 watts of export on those days.

This is what I upgraded to from the app, it is terrible. I have to turn the grid off and hope I get through the day. I exported 0.8kwh yesterday in upto 700w chunks. Also it was taking chunks from the grid for no reason when I had a ton of solar and not much load.

Who if anyone can get me onto this version ? I don't need the utility getting up my arse about this.

@EG4_Ty should be able to help as he did it for me. But any SS or LP support person should also as well.

So my 18 KPV is off grid. Nothing is hooked to the Grid port. It's working fine as I can tell. Have not commissioned yet. My build version- fAAB-OCOD
F.W. Ver FA1.0 imag ver 4 icon ver 7 LCD ver 1/7 back light time 90.00 How far behind am I with proven updates ? Leave it alone? Is there a proven update to enhance my over all off grid use and boost inductive loads?

IMO if there's no problem leave it alone...

Maybe you could help me out or at least point me towards a solution because ive been either on hold waiting for someone at signature solar to answer the call or waiting for them to look at the inverter just to tell me they have to escalate it because nothing seems abnormal.

I stated before: i was having a problem with the inverter feeding back to the grid when it has been set to zero export (i can get a hefty fine if i inject without proper permits) but i cant be off grid because my 30kwh are not enough for the complete night. I need the grid for backup usually from 1am to 7am. So their solution was update either or both firmware and software.

There is no feeding back to power because now its always on EPS mode, the graphic isnt like it was before that you could see aolar and battery energy feeding the HOME ICON, now its always like this:
IMG_7320.jpegIMG_7297.jpeg

And yes this fixed the issue of feeding back to the grid because the contactors are either on solar/battery power or grid, never mixed. THE BIG PROBLEM NOW is that when batteries run low and “switch” to the grid it takes almost 5 minutes, completely dark at home, it feels like 20 minutes but its 4.5 minutes. I have proof:

IMG_7321.jpeg
When out at 2:05am, no power at all until 2:10am… and note that my battery is set to discharge down to 20%, but when it disconnected they were at 23% (i know that with loads ot could've shown them at 20%, thats not the problem really), my first concern is: if the power from grid is available and there it SHOULD SWITCH AUTOMATICALLY without even 5 seconds, and even more if i still have 20% left on batteries.

The other problem is that I DONT WANT the batteries to ever charge from the grid, i have ac charging off, generator charging off, ac coupling off… everytime it charges the batteries for around 1 hour i am getting tired of this. Signature Solar told me last night, after 3 calls and more than 4 hours in front of the inverter that the charging batteries with AC was fixed but the other issues had to be escalated to a tier 2 or level 2 tech. But its 10am and still no one has reached out. Here is proof the charging at 2am

IMG_7322.jpeg

Im getting tired of being on hold and calling back and no one getting back to me. My wife told me to put everything back like it was before and take off the the inverter and batteries

A couple of waiting times from yesterday and the first one is from today

Take a picture of every screen for us and maybe we can help you out?

If not, what's your setting for peak shaving? Peak shaving doesn't do what it sounds like it should do, it's actually an AC charge based on max grid pull. If I were to guess it's on and set to 4kw.

I don't have any reason to say this for sure, but it's possible the grid feed in time (may not be exact wording I'm not in front of my unit) may control the time between switchover for you. It defaults to 5 minutes. Try lowering it. May not perfectly solve the few seconds of transfer time overnight but a few seconds is way better than 5 minutes.

Unfortunately I think some of the grid sell back issues are just going to take time for them to fix. Mine does the same thing, it's clearly a known issue.

When I've called SS before I've just sat it on speaker and went about my business until they answered. Took 30 minutes for me. Again annoying but workable.

I know there's a hidden setting they have access to that will shift the zero point. Maybe a better solution until they actually get it fixed is to have the system pull no more than say several hundred watts from the grid so when it goes a few hundred watts below what it should you're still not backfeeding? Obviously still not a good long term solution but better than what you have now. Would need to swap firmware back a version away from the one that disconnects from the grid.

Switch is seemless for my 18k.

Can you post photos of your settings.

So this is the LuxPower inverter (according to logo on bottom left)? Same one Home Depot has been selling for a little cheaper?
Edit: the HD one is by Liniotech But has similar capabilities.
From what I see from the web, they come from LuxPower with many other name, the different on EG4 we have very large installation box on the bottom with breaker included make the installation a lot faster, look like the Sol-Ark, the other name brand just have about average size of box on the bottom and no breaker, they also about $1K cheaper

Ian has this on his website for the same unit but not eg4 branded. Is there something different with the EG4 branded ones? Watching the youtube video from SS on this very unit it tripped before it's rated surge capacity and time. Anybody running and starting a deep well pump with this and if so what are the specs. Example: 2-3hp 400 deep well pump.

"This is the exact same unit as the Luxpower 12kw, 18KPV model, excepting for the internal Battery Breaker, and 200A AC Input breaker

NOTE, we MAY be discontinuing these models as our testing is showing they are not able supply rated loads and surges without AC power present, this is not a good situation. If it were me, I would go with the Sol-Ark 15k, a solid solution in ALL cases.

We will keep you posted on this."

Looks like a fake listing.
