EG4 18kPV Q+A general thread

here you can see it do it on the app. restarted feeding from grid when load jumps up. so must be calculated to do that based on battery start and PV input being so low at this hour as it was early and we have a storm right now too.

This was my issue. I don't want any grid between 9a and 9p since I'm on time of use. Using the newest firmware it was pulling from grid like you show. So I went back. Interesting.

HI ALL anyone on this thread know if YeYen electric in china make pretty good inverters and batteries it seems. i am thinking to buy a couple test units at special price including freight as they say the 10.4kw batteries work with both Solarc and EG4/Lux power inverters, their look spec wise very much like the Eg4 10kw units and they say their BMS works with both the inverters i use. any thoughts. for sub 2K i think its worth the test.

I was wondering if the missing 186 watts were consumption of inverter or if this chart just isn't accurate ?

how did you shorten the time of scan to 120 seconds?
Under Advance - Reconnect Time.

Seems backwards to me. But having it set to 120 Seconds. The inverter will switch to battery after a grid connection is established in approximately 135 Seconds.

I honestly have no clue what the UL grid regulations require. But in my mind I'd prefer that the inverter remain disconnected from the grid for a few minutes after a connection is established.

Does the 18kPV have any Surge Protection Devices built in? I was not able to find any mention of this in the manual.

For a full hybrid setup (multiple PV inputs, AC, generator and battery), what are the recommended locations for SPDs? Do I need them and if so, how many?

It has GFCI and AFCI Built in but always recommend lightning arrestors. Spds

Hello all,

I recently purchased 2x EG4-18KPV-12LV inverters.
I realized, after the fact, that my grid power is three-phase to the panel inside my home.
I spoke to Signature Solar, and a tech told me that EG4 is working on a firmware update to get these inverters working with three-phase.
Has anyone heard anything similar or have additional information?
I'm torn whether to return these (which have yet to be delivered) and buy 3x inverters that work in three-phase configuration, or keep them and hope for a firmware update later, because I really like the specs on the 18KPV inverters.

Thanks!

How big is your house?
Residential 3-phase services are very rare.

I know it's odd, but the previous owner was planning on building a huge dorm nearby, so they installed a 1,200 Amp cabinet 200 yards from my house and ran three-phase into the home as well.
By the way, where are you located? I'm currently working with a Tim's electric in AZ. It would be cool if you're him.
