Bought from Shenzhen Basen via Alibaba

A low volt 1000w inverter alarm sounded when a 60amp load was applied to the 12v battery and then cut out. Cell volts indicated a low volt issue under load from cell two as below....

Disconnected cells, ensured cell two was charged and did a capacity test on this cell. Capacity of the cell came to around 278ah... but this had to be performed at very low amps as cell volt would drop significantly low at around 15-20amps and quickly shut the capacity tester down to it's low volt cutoff... see below

@bakepl what BMS are you using? Did you weight the cells as the EVE spec sheet says 5.2KG per cell. I have 32 of these cells on their way to the UK currently from Aimee at Basen for a 12v and a 48v and should have 12 cells spare all being well.

120amp with bluetooth, 4s config as below.... i soldered in a two pin header for the switch port but perhaps this can be done by them prior to shipping.. I should have asked...

I did not weigh the cells, I did receive the EVE spec sheet and the serial on each cell reflects an EVE product... cells arrived new looking unmarked.... top balanced ok however on reflection I did notice the faulty cell always had a slightly higher volt when charging compared to the other 3 and similarly on a small load that cell always had slightly lower volt. If a 60amp load is applied to the 12v battery the bad cell drops to around 2.7 or lower whilst the others remain above 3v. Was easy to see the faulty cell and Basen have posted me another with no drama.

Oh, they sent a replacement, great. on another thread, 4 cells damaged during shipping--probablly, they are not so willing to send a replacement.

Hello, I just place am order from Basen for the 280Ah also. Did yoiu have a hard time getting the replacement or have do a bunch of proof that there is problem with one cell? I also going to buy that cell tester you had on the link, Aliexpress is having 11.1 sale for on $24! I going to get one for sure. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32848001849.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dnFrUnb

Looks good. Do you know if it has external data logging capabilities?

Does anyone actually know how to upgrade one of those testers to 300w?

Change the mosfet for a better one or add more of them, improve the cooling design ;)

My tester shows about .6 volts lower than my fluke meter.
I'm losing faith in this cheap Chinese crap. 60v 5a bench power supply lasted 27 hours.
Sheesh

Hello All New guy here. I ordered 16 280AH from Basen 12/20/2020 and they arrived 2/5/2021 in Los Angeles. Voltages are spot on ( matched ) thus far. They came packed well and included buss bars and hardware.
However several cells looked like rejects. See attached pictures.

Are those patches applied to dents in photos 1+2 ?
And a scratch to the plastic of photo 5 ?

Welcome to the forum.. :) Sorry to see that mess.

So now Basen has resorted to trying to hide dents by putting a patch over them? Not a very good way of doing it. When Basen is confronted they will say "patch protects dent...cell good...no refunds".

There have been many reported cases of dents very similar to the dents in your cells. As far as the scratch it's difficult to tell from the photo how bad it is. But if there is a possibility the wrap will wear trough in that area exposing the shell, then that is unacceptable.

The least I would do is request two replacement cells. There is no way to know if the dents have compromised the cells. They might be ok to use but they may not be.

They were advertised like this on Basen's Alibaba website.:
1.This item is EVE 280Ah item,the QR code is intact,Grade A,Brand new.

I do not want damaged cells.

Sheila Chou2021-02-05 21:28

okay, would you mind to test the voltage and internal resistance of these two batteries ?

Let's be clear I don't want damaged cell causing a fire in my house. Would you accept a damaged car that claimed to be new? Would you accept a damaged part on an airplane that you are flying on? NO

Just received notification that my 32 cells have been shipped from Shenzhen Basen. I dealt with Alex Chen, expect them to take about a month as they are coming overland by train.
