6000EX-48HV Issues with batteries charging above 54v with sufficient PV input

Finally got a response that states they are mailing me the proper cable to do a firmware update and emailed the firmware without any backup documentation like how to do factory reset afterwords, etc. I probably won't see the cord til after New Years and will have to deal with someone for proper update protocols, but it's a start.
I have similar issues w my 6000EX .... SS sent two wrong cables????.... that would not "Communicate " with PC and Inverter. I tried generic cable w no results. Scarred to attempt software update WO more support..?
Also tried to connect Solar Assistant...( because internal software is very incomplete ) with similar " no communications " .
My sys is 9 panels w two 48v LLs .... appears to work ... but looking for verification that " Grid " will recharge when batts go low.... and then recharge when PVs able... Tom 214 769 8106

I was going through the cable nightmare today. After all the storms here in California it's taken me awhile to get back to my client. Had everything set today to get it done, along with the serial adapter cable that took forever to get. So I got to spend the day trying to figure out why the upgrade software wouldn't recognize the cable. I'm not a rookie to Windows. I've used every flavor since Windows 3.1. The drivers for the USB load just fine. The issue is that there is no communication between the cord and the inverter. I've installed, uninstalled reinstalled and the best I can get is that the software will recognize the port. Beyond that, it won't communicate. My days are worth more than this B.S.

When you receive the cable, I would recommend going to eg4electronics.com and watching the walk thru video for firmware updates. What exactly do you mean by factory reset?

If you can DM me your email address I will have tech support reach out to you tomorrow to see where things might be going wrong. The majority of the time it's something small that was overlooked in the process.

I doubt that in this case. I was very careful to read through things carefully. I'm not new to firmware updates and I am not new to installing drivers for such things.

The only way I could get mine to do the update was to go to windows update and with the cable plugged in, at device manger it recognized I needed Silicon cable update.....the update from EG4 website would never work. ONce the cable driver update from Silicon installed, it worked like a charm. Ryan at SS discovered this solution for me....thanks again Ryan. HOpe it works for you.

I'll try updating it before I go back out tomorrow. Thanks. It may be that the solutions aren't ready for prime time though.

That turned out to be a dead end. Already have the latest drivers. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Hey @SolarScott can you elaborate? I am getting nothing out of my inverter. Windows recognizes and sees the com port with the SigSolar USB dongle in the USB port, but there is zero communication.
Can you elaborate on what you did exactly? Thanks!

Did you end up buying a new USB adapter? If so, which one?

Sorry, I have no dongle...I just could not do the firmware update because I could never get the cable driver to install from the EG4 website. When I went to windows update, in device manager with the cable from SS installed, windows recogonized it needed the driver from Silicon labs, it installed it automatically and then I was able to do the update shown on the EG4 video. Hope this helps.

SIg Solar sent me their specific drivers this morning. So far I have been unable to revert to the earlier drivers that are needed. Still working on it and will post results.

Could you share those on the forum or via DM please?
I have mine recognizing the USB dongle that comes with it. I removed the two wire cable that Sig Solar provided and wired in a Cat 5 cable with 4 pairs of wires.

To see if there was anything coming out of the EG4 LCD control module on the inverter, I installed "CoolTerm" terminal emulator program on my Windows 10 laptop and then connected to the USB dongle (COM5 on my system).
There was data being generated on the brown pairs and the green pairs coming from the LCD display unit on my EX6500. Obviously just garbled nonsense to this application, but it is outputting something .

So shut this down and went back to the Sig Solar Watchpower application knowing now that there is data of some sort coming down that wire to the system. Configured it for the same port, same baud rate, etc etc.

Nothing. Nada. Like it isn't connected at all. Not that it will give any indication one way or another, but it is grabbing and locking the COM5 port to itself (no other apps can connect to COM5 with Watchpower running), but not actually reading any data. Not giving any error messages. Absolutely nothing.

This is incredibly frustrating and Sig Solar needs to post specific instructions on how to get this working for everyone. I don't have time to spend HOURS and HOURS getting this working. @BenFromSignatureSolar and @SignatureSolarJames ... please address this and post a public solution.

I don't mind buying replacement cables. Just give us something that works easily and QUICKLY out of the box. That is supposed to be the point of buying vendor matched all in one batteries and inverters ... so that it is easy and just works.
Please and thank you

I was messing around with my signature solar 6500 setup yesterday. Got nothing out of the RJ45 to USB cable they provide with. This is the driver SS are given out to work with their com port. I just added it to mine and still nothing.. no difference in communications.
Is this the driver they gave you, @Mendo Home Power ? It looks like it is at least 10 years old. f

THis is the only one I could get to work for me......I am computer semi literate.....all the other drivers would never load.......https://www.silabs.com/developers/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers

I am getting the drivers I have to connect to the USB device and see it as a serial port.
There is data /traffic / garbage coming out of the green pair and brown pair of wires to a terminal viewer app (called coolterm).

However Watchpower sees nothing at all. Sooooo ... soo annoying and frustrating.

I tried WatchPower with the EG46000.
It did not work.
I went to SolarPower and it worked fine.
If you folks already tried this, then just ignore this message.
of course this does not help firmware upgrades.
