I bought a Vanpowers Super Power Pro 2000 a few weeks ago, and I have found some very annoying things about this unit.
The app isn't available, for one. Their download page has a link to https://apps.apple.com/cn/app/vanpowers/id1617421603
It says connecting but it stays that way. If you shorten...
What in the #$%%* is up with power related hardware that it has to be so LOUD! WHETHER IT IS A CHEAP POWERSTATION OR AN EG 6500EV all in one system, these damn things are so loud I can't hear myself think.
Just a rhetorical question.
Another lame question from a beginner, but very simple.
I am accustomed to DC wiring in cars and selecting wire gauge to fit the job. For instance if you are playing Cocaine by Eric Clapton, you need a Zero Gauge wire or better. AC/DC maybe 2 gauge. Rolling Stones make that a 4 gauge job...
I love these glowing youtube reviews by certified honest reviewers that include paid promotions.
I wasn't sure what the paid promotion was but Oh Look! Its an amazon link to the 8000W inverter he reviewed in the video.
I clicked on the link to amazon and looked at the customer reviews
There...
Does anyone know what the use is for the USB Disk on the EG4 6500EX?
The manual says - Supports USB On-the-Go function to easily upgrade firmware
- (LCD panel) 15. OTG-USB port as USB communication port and USB function port
- USB...
My all in one unit is rated at 6500W output for a home that uses about 500 kWh per month.
A typical outlet is rated at 120VAC, 15Amps = 1800 Watts each. So about 4 outlets for my home can be run by my 6500W system.
My home has a lot more than 4 outlets (maybe 20)
At maximum production (24...
I have been looking at the Victron MPPT calculator at https://www.victronenergy.com/mppt-calculator and seeing how my 10 Trina panels could be used with a Victron MPPT.
It seems that the calculator is adjusting for temperature variations and every time I think a string might fit a mppt, it...
Please someone tell me is there any source of information that would help me to understand and evaluate an electrical shock hazard?
I was shocked recently into the realization that a lot of people make comments on unexpected electrical hazards that they run up against, but no one ever said...
I saw a review recently that showed this same Victron model performing a switch that was smooth as silk. An oscilloscope was used to show the nice sine wave that had the slightest ripple.
My new inverter, a newer version of the Multiplus, switched from battery to AC due to low SOC or low...
I have a spec sheet for an all in one charge controller / mppt / inverter.
Under Solar Input Specifications it shows:
Rated Power 8000W
Max PV Array Open Circuit 500VDC
PV Array 90VDC - 450VDDC
Max Charging Current (PV) 120A
I...
OK, easy question.
You have a home with one distribution panel or breaker box. It is the primary panel and has the neutral ground bond.
You install a solar sytem with utility input from the above panel providing AC input that is properly grounded.
The AC power out from the inverter of this unit...
I have bought some Victron items (shunt, small mppt) and I really love them, except I don't see how I can log their details.
I have thought about putting together an all Victron system, but I find the Inverters disappointing. They don't balance with their other components.
For Instance, a...
As a solar system non-expert with about a year of experience building and using solar tech, my view of solar panels is that they are a commodity, and not something to get excited or enthusiastic about. When I search for solar panels I trust their specs, and purchase based on the listed...
I have heard Will Prowse say on Youtube that a 12 volt battery can or can not / should not be put into series in order to make a 24 or 48 volt battery. I don't know which brand of battery or why it would be a good idea or a bad idea to put in series.
Could anyone help me to get a clue? Thanks.
Due to my misbehavior in terms of electrical safety, I am looking at installing a good quality circuit breaker box before I turn on my solar panel system again.
Since I know very little about these things, I was thinking I should spend more money than less on an item that could save my bacon...
I saw another thread that mentioned this, but the answer was "what do you mean."
Well, don't try that here, because that is my question. What does it mean in reference to mounting solar panels.
Here is my local code

This is to clarify the non-engineered requirements for solar...
I have set up my new Victron Multiplus 2 5k inverter, and I have no idea how to control it.
Using a MK3 VE. Bus to USB connection, I have run the VictronConnect software. In order to enable settings the program says
"Settings are protected by a password. This password is provided with Victron...
I have seen a few glowing reviews of the Vanpowers power pro 2000 unit so after buying one a month ago and having lived with it I just want to add my two cents.
First I have to say that there are reviewers on youtube who are clearly paid or bribed to say only positive things about the products...
I recently bought a Vanpowers Super Power Pro 2000 2096Wh/2000W powerstation and I need some help.
I have a moderate amount of electronics understanding and solder / crimp ability and understand the physics involved.
The Zendure and Vanpowers powerstations appear to be absolutely identical...
I bought some MC4 connectors from ebay and have had no problem connecting and disconnecting them.
The connectors on the back of my solar panels look different and have no place to pinch to open them. They look like the picture below.
I couldn't detach them by pulling with hand pressure. I don't...
Posted this elsewhere but thought it should be here instead,
I bought some MC4 connectors from ebay and have had no problem connecting and disconnecting them.

Whatever annoying crashes/power switches and my understanding of these Victron Units are, I find some aspects of this hardware to be very frustrating.
What Frustration? OK, It takes an engineer to adjust the settings, so you must type "zzz" to legally agree that you should even change anything...
The scenario is - Bad Weather coming - Solar system in Winter is low because it sucks at the moment.
The weather man says LOOK OUT, Something is on the way.
So what do you do?
Victron Multiplus inverter - Change AC Input Control -> Connect when SOC Drops Below to 95% or 99%
6500ex - I set...
I have mounted my new inverter to a wall, and I started thinking about the work I will be doing to get it running. I could move it elsewhere but it is a test setup for me to familiarize myself with it. I have batteries on order, some panels and charge converters around, so not in a big hurry...
My first Mc4 connectors I hand crimped were pretty crummy. It took me a little while to understand that they had to be fully inserted to make a good connection. In spite of my assumed expertise, I can measure 140f using an infrared gun on one of my connector pairs and about 120f on another...
I am asking for review of my thinking. my solar system education requires constant oversight.
Below is a picture of a Siemens TL137US Talon Temporary Power Outlet Panel with a 20, 30, and 50-Amp Receptacle Installed, Unmetered Gray.
Apologies for the U.S. centric assumptions such as wire color...
Since I bought a multiplus-II and it should arrive soon, I am puzzled about this Victron inverter which is also a battery charger. I have a clue what an inverter is, that's why I bought it.
I see the words "battery charger" used in 4 places in the manual, and charger used 43 times. It has a...
Here is an option I can't figure out. I have been playing with options like you see here. Maybe my eyesight is bad, but my changes have been few and minor because this is new to me. Today the inverter shut off and it took a while to figure out what happened. This thing was clicking and making...
There are times when my solar panels are providing power, but the batteries are full. If you had a spare car battery, you could charge it up.
Would it be possible to use that car battery as a substitute for solar panel DC input later in the day if you had depleted your main battery?
