Chargery BMS News / UPDATE (Nov.25.2020) Ver 4.02 firmware

I believe that if you have the latest software update, you can power the BMS down, then on resumption of power later, all the settings are retained. I might be inclind to do so myself, except, unfortunately i cannot get the software update and hence i would need to reset all the settings. This leaves a lot of room for error(user input) for something that must work perfectly every time it is called for. I just like the idea of entering the camper, pressing one button and immediately seeing the voltage of every cell. I'd be inclined to do this more often, than if i was having to fiddle with things.
In my circumstances...the pros of disconnecting are, you cant drain your pack. The cons are, i need to reset all settings every time and it becomes a chore.
If I was having problems flashing the firmware, and you think it is related to Vista, try running 10 in a virtual machine and pass through the USB port.

Lol what is a virtual machine? Is that like those virtual reality goggles? I put those on one time over at a friends house and in 30 seconds I got sick, don't see how his son wore those things playing games. I don't play on a computer very much. Thank goodness for a cell phone it is easier for me to navigate.

I may just have to pay someone to update them for me.

When you’re doing DIY, you have to be persistent about learning what you need to learn to succeed. Otherwise, you may as well have paid someone to do it in the first place. Take a breath, reread through the thread. Search the forum for other similar threads. Be patient. Eventually you will either figure it out or find help.

It is at least a 10 yr old computer. I think I'm going to have to use another one. I dont have internet at my place but have to go somewhere that has it.
I don't mean to sound rude, but how are you posting on here if you don't have internet? If you have data service on a mobile / cell device you can tether that to your pc to get on the internet.

That's how I get my internet most of the time.

How do you do that? I've tried to tether from a few phones to my laptop and it won't work. I'm on AT&T and use a samsung. Very weak signal here, only place I have it is in my bedroom by the window. Walk out in the yard and nothing until you get close to the window outside my bedroom lol

Really depends on your plan and your phone. Most will let you use your phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot, which is easier than tethering. Most is of course the key word.

As of now I'm leaning towards selling these units and buying a daly
Daly bms have their own problems too. If you are interested in the Chargery, you should also check out the Electrodacus SBMS0. Like the Chargery, it is not a FET based BMS.

I've looked into them before and they didn't make a 16s. Ive got 4 chargery now and wanting to get rid of em. Why? Can't easily update firmware, have to buy more additional items to make it work, the whole install is not user friendly. Very poor videos on exact how too.

These companies need to take a look at solark and how they do videos. Very indepth and precise in detail.

This is like buying a new car with it having no tires, no windshield and the engine spits and sputters and you got to figure out how to get it running.

Then you might want to check out Overkill Solar. Unless you are fluent in Chinese, Daly is not for you.

You complaint is related to you not having a Windows PC, Laptop which can use a USB Port. This is Chargery's Fault ? Too Complicated ? Funny how everyone else has managed to update the firmware.

Obviously, you want (NEED) a simple plug'n play BMS with minimal features & functions which can't be updated. There are many "Dumb" BMS' as well as more basic "Smart" BMS' which cannot be updated.

As Just John Suggests, look at Overkill's JBD BMS Offerings

They should have a fully functioning bugs worked out bms. Where you just hook it up and with options already in place to use relay or dcc and with firmware that doesn't mess battery cells up.
After buying you find out you have to buy additional items to make it work and oh by the way the firmware needs to be upgraded as well.

I work for a company that manufacturers items for public use. We field test items for a year in advance giving them hell to see what needs upgrading. We do the upgrades and put out a finished product. I've been with em for 23 years and can't recall the last time we had a recall on something that was done in house.

Would a 100 amp bms be enough for a 5500 watt inverter with a 11,000 watt peak?

Would like it more if it was 150-200amps.

Their are several videos of people using the smart Daly 16s for one to hook one up it looks simple enough and the Bluetooth for your phone to adjust the settings if you want. No need for relays or DCC either which adds to the cost

I own 3 Daly BMS. If you want idiot proof and well tested with clear and concise instructions, they aren't it.

I suggested Overkill, because it is currently the most bulletproof, plug it in and it works solution that I know of. (I'll also add that my knowledge is limited).

A DIY lithium battery requires a little bit of research and effort, and honestly, internet connection to do so.
Some really nice solutions require a lot of money, time, and study to work (like Batrium).

The vast majority of products are manufactured in China. Technical support would charitably be characterized as "lacking" for the majority. If you want better support and directions, that stuff costs money.

I gave a suggestion, but I can't bring a product to market. Seriously, if it was that easy, the market would be flooded with products and we might suggest something else. Heltec also makes some very nice BMS with higher rates. That's about all I can do is make suggestions.

Thats exactyl the same thing, wifi hotspot / tethering

Actually it is not. Tethering is using the USB port as a network device. A hotspot is setting up your phone as a private Wi-Fi network with the phone as the default router.

Either one must be supported by your phone and your plan, both can be disabled by your carrier when provisioning your line. They are very much different things in your phone software and in provisioning by the carrier.

Ya if I remember right I'm not allowed to Hotspot on my plan. I was trying to download something to my laptop via phone and never could get it to work and watched several YouTube videos on doing it.

I can understand the frustration with computer technology .... I worked with and supported computers most of my career as part of my job .... and sometimes it could drive you crazy when something should work but didn't. This is especially true with the older operating systems.

I'm not sure where you live, but if you want to send me your BMS ... one at a time ... or all at once, I will update them for you.
