New offering true Grade A EVE 280ah? 118usd

Any reviews on the new 280Ah cells from Amy? I am trying to get 16 cells for my small ev which draws upto 270A current max so I believe this would be good but Steve mentioned its not EV grade cells. Amy did say we can use it for EVs too (power systems or something like that).. What do you recommend?

I did get Eve 105Ah cells from Eve last year which were priced $80/cell and while they worked great for 2 months, its starting to degrade at least a pair of cells and they are discharging faster than others. When I contact eve they are saying it cannot happen and I am the culprit for connecting wrongly.. lol. I also use chargery BMS and they are blaming each other for faults instead of accepting some cells might be defective or the bms mihht be defective.. I am at the loss.. So, I do not have much faith in "new matched" cells now.. :(
If you are talking about the matched cells Amy sales (for about $118 each plus shipping), they likely would work. I haven't seen any results from high current testing, but they are indeed grade A cells, not the normal grey market grade B cells.

Yes those ones.. would love to see some test results, those who have received them yet..

Have you rechecked all of the connections and made sure everything is tight as it should be.
You mention using a Chargery BMS, do you have the balancing enabled ?
Are the misbehaving cells Runners or Lazies ? Runners meaning they reach Hi Voltage before the others and deviate a lot (up to 1mv per AH of Capacity) ? Lazies are cells that reach Lo Volt far ahead of others ?

Note that cells above 3.450 will deviate a certain amount, even if matched but not as bad as bulk cells.
Cells below 3.000 can also wander apart a bit but should remain generally pretty close.
Remember the main powercurve for LFP is 3.000-3.450 aboe & below that adds up to only 5AH or less on a 280AH cell.

My last batch of cells was a Matched Set. They all stayed very close right through the operating ranges whether light or heavy load. No real deviations noted on Internal Resistance either (tested with Yaorea 1035+).

I have yet to see a EVE 280 cell exceed 285 AH, Grade A, Grade S+, Grade China No.1! e.t.c..., and I have literally seen hundreds, not 1 ever got into the 290 range. Would love to see someone post a capacity test showing eve 280 hitting the 290 range.

Amy has negotiated direct supply contracts with EVE, and others, with EVE supplying bulk cells (cheaper ones) and Manufacturing

Amy should post a copy of this direct contract with EVE, I know they require a monthly minimum order like 4000 pcs or so.

She would require approval from EVE to post a copy of the contract. Pricing, minimum order quantities, etc are considered confidential and proprietary information.

So far, I've not seen Amy lie or "stretch the truth" like most vendors. I know that the order I placed in April came with test reports from EVE.

There are cheaper vendors, if lowest cost is your primary objective.

I agree with the comments of Steve_S. That's why I ordered them at Luyuan. Indeed I've bought them as grade A with 118usd price. The 2021 version of the EVE cells don't have tapped holes. There are welded studs on it. And yes: I trust Amy because many people on this forum ordered cells from here. She has good reviews. She also ansewerd my questions well. Without trust you can't buy anything from China.

Hi. I'm new to all this forum, in fact very little experience on any forum f So please excuse if I post something wrong or silly.
I'm looking at EVE cells on:

From the pictures, the cells Have tapped holes. Going by your post they cannot be 2021 cells . They are advertised as, Grade A, February 2021 EVE cells.. What do you think?

Cells being sold by Battery Brokers are most often tapped for screws, these are also most likely Bull Commodity cells and not properly matched.
Battery Brokers in China is Huge Business, they take the off-cells, ones which are on the edge of the specs, new old stock. All intents & purposes "Grey Market". There is also a difference in teh QRCodes too...

Luyuan does NOT use any brokers anymore, they have a direct supply & testing contract with EVE and other Manufacturers directly. They do sell Bulk Cells as well but they are direct from Factory as well.

I'm not sure about the February 2021 version from Eve, but certainly prior to this, Eve shipped their cells without any studs, tapped holes, just a blank flat terminal. I assume if you paid extra Eve would configure them differently, but any tapped terminals were likely done by a third party after they were shipped from the factory. Eve may offer the studs already installed from the factory now, I don't know. Amy could probably answer. In the past, some were tapped crooked, and those certainly weren't done by Eve.

As an FYI for new members, EVERY SINGLE VENDOR says their cells are "Grade A", tested and matched. Amy is the only vendor I know that actually sells them (but of course they cost more). $900 for 4 cells, even though shipped from the USA is NOT a good price, and I would doubt they are anything other than commodity cells.

Tested and matched from most vendors means they used a meter (the manual for it states not accurate above 100 AH) and "matched" IR and voltage readings AT THAT INSTANCE IN TIME. They didn't do a capacity test, they did pretty much what you can do by ordering the same meter for $70.

I hope some other vendors out there offer true matched cells, but Amy is the only one I know that does, and when she ships she will send you a link to download the test reports. This will be sent AFTER you place the order, because Eve sends them when they leave their factory, not before. The ones (very few) that I've seen all seem to be in the 289 AH range.

Pressed the "Post button" too soon. Sorry!. I'm learning ! ?
Thanks Just John.
Good information. Amy seems the way to go. Plus she has to maintain her reputation on this forum.

Thanks Steve_S. There's a lot of reading there. Will have to read it again. Beginning to wonder what I'm letting myself in for ! There sure is a wealth of information here. I first have to master posting on this pr any forum.?
My plan is to build a 4S 12v 280Ah Battery assembly
Hopefully not too complicated. Amy seems the way to go for the cells. Then to choose the most suitable BMS.
Thanks again.

Actually, a lot of people owe Steve a thank you, and don't even know it. When Amy still worked at Xuba, he suggested taking pictures of the cells with your name on them, and videos measuring cells voltages and IR. Soon it seems like every vendor copied that. When she started her own company, Steve talked her into getting in touch with Eve for real grade A cells, etc. Steve was one of the first to order the Eve 280AH cells as well. I know thanks to his reports, that's why I ordered them. She also sells commodity cells, but just like everyone else, when the supply is low, she can't get them either. The real grade A are always in stock.

You are most Welcome... so nice to have a few people say Thanks every once in a while. Goes for you to John !
Yes, there is a LOT to absorb and even worse if you're a Lead Head like I was in the day, lots to forget and relearn with new tech. Ohhhhmy, and the subtle differences can make you nuts...

Have a look at my Signature. There are links in there to make life easier & simpler and save you a heap of time. Some phones don't show signatures I'm told, some you gotta flip sideways to see it... I never use my phone to browse anything, so I can't say which, what and who's works.

I was just having a chat with Amy and they will also be adding the LFP Assembly Guide I wrote for them and some other materials to help folks. There are a few other things in progress which I can't get into but they will be stepping up the game yet again... Some vendors hate it as they all have to compete and "keep up" LOL.

Great info John
Good to have a Seller in China we can trust. With all the knowledge to be gleaned from here plus Will's pleasant and uncomplicated videos, hopefully I should manage. Looking forward to the challenge. Thanks again.
