Cheapest 48v 50ah battery I've found so far. $409.99 free shipping

Which 48v inverters would be happy with the discharge current limits on a 50ah?
Kind of depends on what loads you run? You could use a 2 or 3k inverter and it would just die if you exceed what the single battery can do.

Personally, I think the size is nice, as it's cheaply shipped and easily handled.

2 of them is half the price of a reliable name brand 48v rack battery for 100ah. You get what you pay for of course.

It's nice seeing one available so cheaply though, they had been gouging bad for 48v vs 12v or 24v batteries. Maybe they are starting to come around and see we want some 48v ones at similar prices to 12v by amp hour.

Yeah I was sniffing at the 50Ah form factor for a while but it's kind of an outlier for 48V thus far.

I don't like thinking different. This halfsie size is certainly conveniently small, but it's weird for future proofing, as the inverter that would be specced to work with it would be pretty small and a bigger inverter has risk of tripping the BMS even if you keep the loads low. So what's the point other than saving minimal amounts of wire vs 24V given the low current in question?

The point is, it's available on Amazon with free shipping for the equivalent price of a 12v battery by amp hour. It satisfies the people that say you shouldn't run 12v batteries in series.

As long as they stay available at a similar price, I'd just keep buying em and stacking em on. You could get 200ah worth of them for $1600 plus tax. That beats the stuffing out of the real 100ah 48v batteries that are "maybe" code compliant depending on your inverter selection and NEC type you fall under.

Well you did say you were going to stack them a lot...

The wires all over doesn't help when the bomb disposal squad comes out to deal with a battery problem.
I understand you're one of the resident safety / code experts on the site. It's helpful and appreciated for the knowledge alone, but.. people have different levels of scoff law'ing they are willing to engage in. We have a whole sub-forum here of people building their own batteries, some of them have nearly 50-100kw of custom built battery.. none of it to code. They are using better BMS's, but that hardly matters when the bomb disposal squad shows up.

I would at least put them in a metal shed in the back. :p

Oh I think I trust the people that build their own batteries more than making a stack of suspiciously cheap batteries.

Although... if Amazon is willing to warehouse these batteries, it can't be that bad? ?

Oops it ships from someone else, it's not Fulfilled By Amazon.

I don't think Amazon stocks any lifepo4 batteries for fulfillment larger than 24ah. I'm not sure if it's because they are afraid, or because of the weight. Might be a little of both.

Items above a certain size I think triggers the next level of OSHA headaches. Possibly also some extra DOT rules.

Plus they don't want their warehouses burning down.

Though... when's the last time you heard on Fox News or Youtube etc about a warehouse burning down b/c of Lithium batteries sitting inside them. You'd think they'd be all over that like with the EV fire stories.
