Signature Solar Experience, Bad or Good

I'll never do business with them again. They have a true megalomaniac running the company that has zero customer service skills.

I've got basically the same system. 12 eg4 48v batteries. Nothing but problems!!! Now I find out that they no longer make the eg4 6500ex 48v inverters!!!! I have not had them quite a year. I had them installed in Sept/Oct 23.!!!!
Yes, bummer the 6500 EX's are now extinct. I will upgrade at some point, but not worth it just yet. I installed mine in June/July. Sounds like you had a contractor? If all was installed properly shouldn't be many issues. The only issues I had were Nagging flickering lights which is an inherant issue with the 6500"s. SS has helped me through all the hurdles I ran into with that and now all is well. The real fix was an update and installing the missing neutral ground bond screws that should have been there in the first place. My frustrations were the amount of time wasted with low level techs before they would escalate me to someone who could get to the bottom of a simple fix that should have taken place weeks earlier. All well now though, patience and perseverance prevailed. Now just managing dead of winter in PA, no fault of the system!

I took them 15 days to ship two batteries, but they sure charged my credit card the same day the order was placed, I wished this was mentioned at the time of placing the order. I’m hoping this is not a reflection if I ever need warranty or support.

Hi @elfSolar! I'm so sorry you're feeling this way and that it took 15 days, we apologize for any delays and inconvenience caused! Charging the customers card is typical of any company to secure an order. If you ever need warranty or support, we are here for you! If you have any issues, questions or concerns, you can always reach out to me directly at engagement@signaturesolar.com.

I have been happy with SS so to this point but the mess with the Chargeverters really pisses me off. That and trying to get a tech to answer the phone or email is pretty much impossible (n)

I'm so sorry about the issues with the status of the chargeverters. We're waiting on an update from EG4 and will report that to you as soon as we hear back. If you'd like to reach out to me again, here or at engagement@signaturesolar.com, I can get you connected directly with an associate to get you taken care of!

Sad to say, the situation has not improved. I received an email last friday Jan 19th and was given the option to purchase a refurbished chargeverter from signature solar. That sounded good to me. I immediately replied amd wanted to know the price and what warranty was on a refurb. That was a week ago. I have received no answer. I think i will try and cancel my order today and have the charge removed from my credit card.
Not receiving the chargeverters from eg4 may be out of signature solars contol but not responding to my question for a week is totally unacceptable.

Since most of the the time these threads draw lots of negativity (people upset are often the most vocal, afterall, and people who are pleased with their product/service have all moved on to the next thing), wanted to give my positive experience. Both in the products they provide and the service they give in my opinion is really good.

I think DIY communities often give companies a bad rap for not being really involved in assisting their customers. I see this with the freeze drying community - HarvestRight provides a great product and tries to keep up with the volume of customer questions, but you still see people fuming about how they "weren't treated right" or "too stupid to figure out my issue". These products aren't hamburgers, they are complex, and lots of different scenarios arise that the company may not have already provided an answer for, or even have an answer for. You have to remember that you're 1 person, and a customer rep is basically working on 1/20th of the time. They're helping lots of other people and can't just dive right into your problem and instantly catch up to your 50 hours of testing/reconnecting/trial-and-error problem.

I've emailed Signature Solar about 3 times on various questions and have received adequate responses every time. I've never emailed McDonalds and wonder if I'd even get a response if I did.

Jimdandy.....when did you place your original order? I have not received such an email.
That information is in my.original po

I was hoping to hear about your positive experience with signature solar but instead you simply insert your opinion that the products they provide and service they give is good. Then you veer off into the freeze drying community and end up with emailing McDonalds in what can only be described as an attempt to gas light those with legitimate concerns.
All i have done on this thread is relate my actual experience and interactions with signature solar.
This thread is not about whether the products they provide are good. As was mentioned in my original post, I already have purchased a 6500ex in the past without issue.
. This thread is about their not being able to provide the product when promised after already taking your money months in advance.
I realize that this may not entirely their fault as they rely on eg4 to keep their obligations as well. However, in regards to the "service they give", I have related the facts.
. To their credit they emailed and direct messaged me in an attempt to explain their situation and offer me an alternative solution. When i replied to their emailed i got no response within a week. You say you emailed them 3 times and got an adequate response. What if you had gotten no response.
Those are the facts. I see no way to chacterize this as good customer service.

Just had my first support call with Signature solar. They picked up quickly and (hopefully) resolved my issue. I wont know until the sun goes down=). Anyhow, was a good experience for me. I worked with Payton. Now about that Chargeverter i ordered a month+ ago and haven't received... I know they are backordered by I am impatient.

Good to hear. Thanks for the positive input.

What is going on over there at SS. Even this DC Breaker is taking a month to ship out?

We have gotten this taken care of today, Jim! We are so sorry for the delay, Our CS manager has reached out and you will have your answers upon your response!

Ultimately, my refurb 6000ex from them seems to be perfect and is performing flawlessly. When there was some confusion about neutral to ground settings/configuration, they responded. Got it for half of what they we're initially new, so, three months later this purchaser is pleased. Nearly 200kW put into the Lightning this month, 3-400kW expected next month. It will be well on it's way to paying for itself in about a year.

Along with used panels, contributed to around a $4k after rebates, 3.6kW array, inverter, 10kW batts, that should be entire paid for in 4-5 years.

putting in almost directly from solar right now...

In my opinion the EG4 18Kw pv inverter is great.
Is in conflict with this
Their final determination and resolution was shipping inverter back and shipping me a new inverter. I believe there is a short in DC buss, they said they want to check out this inverter never had anything like this. According to SS they don't have many problems with this inverter. I asked if they would let me know what the problem is and what caused it.
