I needed this! this thread provided some great humor and learning too.. and I have a degree in this crap.. LOL
 
I see some fire retardant plywood at Menards too.. as well as fire retarding liquid that can be put over gypsum.. additionally when mounting components, if you really were worried, you could use teflon washers to space the equipment out eliminating metal to surface. I have seen equipment that was shot or damaged back in the day that burned but spaced out from the wall a little bit and didn't even set off the wood. I think though its important to have some structure behind the barrier.. I like the idea of using flame resistant plywood and a thinner gypsum.. X type is 5/8 thick and a pain to work with. My old project board was that way.. we sprayed header paint behind our mounts..LOL..

That extra 1/8” is a killer ?

Longer drywall screws don’t know the difference.

I would use 1” of metal tube and two washers to space galv sheet metal away from sheet rock, running #12 or #14 screws through the spacers into the studs. Mount equipment to sheet metal using even something like plain 5/16” nuts to be a little airspaced off of that.

I'm full of fire retardants, and asbestos too.
They told me it was safe to work with this stuff as long as I follow company procedures, and wear my PPE .
And the fear of if or when they make me sick keeps me up some nights....
 
The following are common units and their abbreviations. Note that unit abbreviations are case-sensitive. While some units can be understood when written incorrectly, some have a completely different meaning if the wrong case is used. Avoid any possible confusion or ambiguity and use the correct case.

A - amps, a unit of electric current. Named after André-Marie Ampère.
V - volts, a unit of electric potential. Named after Alessandro Volta.
W - watts, a unit of power. Named after James Watt.
Ω - ohms, a unit of electrical resistance. Named after Georg Ohm.
h - hours
k - kilo (SI prefix for 1000)
K - Kelvin, a unit of temperature. Named after William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin. Not really relevant in solar discussions.
m - milli (SI prefix for 1/1000)
M - mega (SI prefix for 1000000)

Current is measured in amps - A
A battery's voltage is measured in volts - V
A battery's current capacity is measured in amp hours - Ah
A battery's energy capacity is measured in watt hours - Wh. Wh is simply Ah x V. Many times it is shortened to kilowatt hours - kWh. Example: 5120Wh or 5.1kWh.
An inverter is measured in watts - W. Many times a value is shortened. 4000W can be written as 4kW. Really large systems could be in megawatts (MW) or even gigawatts (GW). Small electronics might be measured in milliwatts (mW).
A wire's resistance is measured in ohms - Ω. Many times the resistance is very small such as 0.002Ω commonly written as 2mΩ (two milliohms).

While not a unit, one common abbreviation that should be written correctly is for Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. The correct written form is LiFePO₄ though most people find LiFePO4 is much simpler to type. LFP is a shorthand abbreviation understood in the context of this forum when discussing batteries.

Incorrect abbreviations would include LiFePO (lithium iron phosphorus oxide), LiFePo (lithium iron polonium), LiFePo4 (lithium iron tetra-polonium), LiFeP04 (using a zero instead of a capital O), LiFe (lithium iron), LifePo4 (wrong case on the F and O).

Note that there is a lithium-ion polymer battery typically written as LiPo. That is not at all the same as LiFePO₄. You do not want to confuse the two types. Though both of those types are specific examples of the more general lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries.
Good info, but abbreviations are often different depending upon the subject area. We computer guys use K to mean 1000 when we talk about a kilobyte of data (1000 bytes = 1 KB, versus 1,000 bits - 1Kb). If you're old like me, you believe a KB is 1,024 bytes, but we techies lost to the marketing guys - 1,024 bytes is now a Kibibyte or KiB (though we refuse to use that term).

Found a nice smoked Dutch cheese product that’s pretty good for melting and making sauces

But nothing beats real American cheese if you want to make cheese comfort food

I got home late
No supper prepared
I glued together some smokies ( sort of a hot dog but kind of kielbasa like… )
American style hash brown potatoes, eggs cream old traditional cheddar some onion peppers spices ect

Made a sort of casserole with the lot, sprinkled some seasoning and bread crumbs ect
1 hour later the ravenous man child who lives in my basement was eating

Real cheese is nice but not always perfect
But some smooth melting process cheese and smoked sausage with eggs and cream can make and almost quiche like light fluffy breakfast for dinner on the cheap thing

I like simple no nonsense stuff
That even includes food
I gave considerable thought to making a quiche larren tonight
But you need good lean bacon and a crust
And I had no time for that
But there are other ways to get that feeling without having to go high brow lol

There is a difference between general terms and specific units.

I = current
A = amps (one specific unit of current)
E = voltage
V = volts (one specific unit of voltage)

My original post was referring to the common units, not the general terms.
