I’ve got a 3/4 HP 4” 2-wire 230V Submersible Well Pump (4F10S07305)
Rated: 8A Max, 40.7A Locked Rotor Current
Real World Measurements: 8.3A running, 21A peak inrush current
It is 17 years old and still working very well.
I’m considering putting a soft-start on it to ease the startup current on my split-phase Quattro 5Ks.
They don’t really break a sweat starting it, but I don’t like to see the lights dim when it does.
I’m looking at the Schneider Altistart 01 soft start devices and trying to choose something I’ll never have to worry about.
But the ratings are confusing.
For example, the ATS01N112FT is rated for 12A current, but then it says 1.5 kW motor power for single phase.
8.3 A * 230 V = 1.9 kW, so it looks like it is undersized based on just that spec.
Down further in the spec that say “Motor power range AC-3: 1.1…2 kW at 200…240 V 1 phase”
Top end 2kW is very close to the actual power draw for my comfort.
The next one bigger is the ATS01N125FT, which is rated for 25A.
But in the “Motor power range AC-3” spec, it says “2.2…3 kW at 200…240 V 1 phase”
I take this to mean that there is a minimum useful power as well, and I’m under it for this model.
In general, has anyone used these Schneider soft starts for 2-wire 240V pumps?
Thanks in advance
