Need to hookup a victron 48/12 converter to my 2-48v eg4 batteries, and trying to determine what gauge cables to use and what size breaker? Converter puts out 30amp, but I doubt I will have enough load to tap that 30amps the van.

Here is my rudimentary wiring diagram.

Here is my rudimentary wiring diagram.
From spec sheet, it puts out 30A of 12vdc, 360W. 40A for 10 sec.
Size the wire to carry the load plus 25%:
So use 30A, x 125% and round up is 40A.

So, 8awg does 40A up to 10ft total run with < 3% voltage drop. 8AWG minimum.

Circuit breaker or fuse, you size to protect the wire. (Or can do lower amps and protect wire and load both).
40A for wire and load protection.
40A x 125% for wire protection, =50A fuse or cb. This also keeps you from nuisance trips if converter achieves its rated 40A for 10s output.

Thanks so much!

I need to learn these load calculations that you used— that’s def not in my head. Is there a good source you can recommend where all that stuff is written down so I can reference it quickly?
