Beware of Docan Technologies (Issue Resolved)

Several people on this forum keep posting this, but we know it's not true - I don't know why it continues to be repeated.

You can buy EV grade, EVE cells with the EVE test reports from at least two suppliers, Luyuan if you want to wait for a boat from China or sunfunkits if you are in the USA.
How much do Sunfunkits charge in the USA? for the cells only? can you buy only the cells?

It's interesting that the DOCAN Texas warehouse is selling the LF280N for $600 and SunFunKits for $955. SunFunKits does specifically state they are automative grade.. It just seems so hard to know for certain who to trust.
Trust no one! ?

Look i just went to see the prices of EVE cells on sunfunkits website, and boom here it is.
It says on their Twitter feed, exactly what I said 15 mins ago. EVE has finally taken action on the B grade cells.
Go and have a look

You can tell by a capacity test. Let's be honest, 99% of people it really doesn't matter that much. Its only the very few, that it might affect and even then, as long as they do some research, they will likely get cells that should last a pretty long time.
At least Docan doesnt sell used cells, like was happening heaps a couple of years ago, and still happens on Aliexpress all the time.

You are 100% right and went and looked at the photos of Sunfunkits delivery. They are in fact 100% A-grade cells.
They have paid about 40-50% more for their cells. Sunfunkits are my new recommendation in the states. 100% good company there.

Luyuan I will ask tomorrow at China time, for more info. as I said I have ordered from them before and report back.

Luyuan does test them and provides "a" report. I have ordered from them before, but they tested in 286-288 range, so from what I've learned over the past few years selling cells in another country, they are just the best of the B grades, very very close to the A grades, Luyuan does test them, themselves and matches and batches them, but they do charge extra for that. Hence the $150ish USD price.
EVE tests them for Luyan. Luyan supplies the packing materials and shipping labels, EVE matches the cells and puts them in the boxes, done after you have ordered. This is why it may take a week to 10 days after you've placed the order to when they send you the link to download the test reports and they get shipped. Luyan does no testing themselves, EVE does. It is very easy to match the serial number listed on the test report with the actual cells you receive, and every single time I test and verify that the results I get are comparable. The actual test data is stored on an EVE server, and after 30 to 90 days, some of the data is deleted, leaving just the tested capacity and one of the IR measurements.

Thank you. Very good info.

Pay attention people. If you are using the cells a lot, every single day or more, you should fork out extra to get them from either SUNFUNKITS or Luyuan. If it's not that important, and you aren't going to use all the cycles, then by all means just get what cheaper ones, because it's really not that big a deal in my eyes. Will himself has got batches of B cells and they work, and so have lots of other people on youtube. Personally, if I was in the states, I would definitely support SUNFUNKITS, that is awesome stuff they are doing there, and they aren't gouging either. Really good business from the looks of it.

Pay attention people.
I have been paying attention for ten years. In 2012 I bought automotive grade Winston's at $300 a kWh and they were a good value at the time for an EV conversion that I drove hard every few days. Two years ago I bought Grade B cells for $125 per kWh and use them every day but at low C rates and rarely to 50 per cent SOC.

I am in agreement that Automotive Grade cells are higher quality and if your use case would benefit then spend the extra money. I believe it is the use case that buyers need to pay attention too when buying cells. It all depends on where you are standing.
BTW, @some-random-guy , how do I use them more than every day?
;)

I don't know if I would buy 280N they have not been made since June of 2021 so almost 1 year. 280K seems to be the best bang for the buck all things considered.

...
No offense, but that is even less information than the original poster. Are they perfect because they appear shiny? Did you test any?
Did you even use a meter to see what voltage they arrived at? (hint, that really means nothing despite what vendors tell you)
Date codes? I'm sure you mean well, but really it is not a useful post.
All cells were checked for voltage as they came out of the box and five had 3.32 and the other three had 3.31. All QR codes were checked and the date of manufacture was between 12/20/21 and 12/29/21. I have not been able to do any more testing than that because most of that equipment is still being shipped to me.

We covered this in another thread some time back. SunFun Kits themselves even confirm that Luyuan cells are the EV grade automotive cells.

$600 is for non-EV grade cells, $955 is for EV grade cells with the factory test reports. Both of them are trustworthy it just depends on the quality you wish to pay for.

I have been looking at 18650Batterystore and almost pulled the trigger, but if you look at there spreadsheet its not the same as luyuans and doesn't have all the info.

NOTE: If you look at the 105 they are list, it has the same spreadsheet style that luyuan has.

I tend to look for green / yellow sheets they appear to be from EVE. Has anyone tested these cells on the forums? That terminal looks pretty rad.

The only reviews i’m interested in reading are from those that have had their systems in daily operation for five years or more.

That timeframe should be around 1/3 the system lifespan, and reviews will give an indication of how well the system is operating.

I’m hopeful that in a few years we will start to see a decent trend on this forum to be able to evaluate if it is worth getting B grade cells for low C rate applications.

My experiences to date tell me B grade cells won’t get close to the ten year mark - let alone the cheap FET based BMS’s and inverters.

The terminals are indeed what EVE puts on themselves, and the data on the spreadsheet is what remains after EVE ages out the data. Somewhere between 30 and 90 days, EVE will delete the extra data points and this is what remains. I had this happen to me with the first batch of grade A cells I purchased. If you don't save the data in the first 30 days, by the time the boat gets here some is gone. The green/yellow EVE puts on the spreadsheet just indicates which pallet the cells are on, nothing more.

I need to investigate this, I emailed Lampard Li from EVE and lets see what they say.
I don't know about currently, but in the past, EVE did a very poor packing job. If you are buying a pallet, it is fine. But boxes not shipped on pallets did very poorly. Packed 4 per box with foam that crushed and let the cells be dented if the box is dropped. They may have changed that, but that was one of the reasons they don't want to sell smaller quantities of cells.
