diy solar

Very new to solar but started purchasing items, not sure of the final specs of the whole system.

Left them in the same spot for the entire day and the delta from earlier has improved.
Running for the entire night till morning it usually show around 600+ah.

I have been researching how to add a load panel for ev/mower charging, originally was told I could create the n/g via the transformer but that did not work.

Found a few threads on the subject but nothing total conclusive. Seems I may have to leave out 120v all together. I wondered if I could add a second ground round on but that also seems like it could cause issues. Main house ground would be 50ft away and 10 feet lower as well.

Pulled one of the 64 batteries and wanted to see how much it required to finish charging.
Installed the eb software, it required 51ah to complete the charge. I figured it would have been
less with 3 chargers running for over 4 days.

Working on ordering a few things from alibaba and seller requested this payment. The price was excellent and now I believe why that is.

Update on the dented batteries they are not wanting to replace them. I offered to ruin the two batteries on video so they would know that I was not trying to get spares but they are not budging. I will test them after the 64 are charged. I suspect they are fine but since they are dented on the sides it does not matter how I orientate them they create large gaps. I sent them pictures and video opening every box and showing how orientation does not matter. I'm greatly disappointed to say the least.

Going way back to water heater heater temp settings. The reason for the higher recommendation is because Legionella bacteria reproduce in moist area between 100-125 F. So if you have the water temp in the tank set in that range you can grow legionella.

How are the new water heaters doing? You haven't mentioned them in a while so I'm guessing they're behaving.

So far no errors on either unit so I'm super happy about that. It's frustrating that they mandated all water to be under 109 for all home care under cms. I was looking into some kind of valve system where I could raise the temp to safer levels but it would mix the c/h to 109.

I'm pretty sure they have mixers that will do that for hot water. I have something vaguely similar for the floor heat in my shop, but that's a lot simpler as it's a fairly constant flow rate.

We were down to 60% today on bank 2, best charge rate in 4 days due to clouds. Yesterday was mostly negative and the previous days were positive 5 to negative 9 during the best hours. Still very cloudy but no rain, surprised its doing 50amps. Need to start the pole barn to I can add more panels. Then I will start a go fund me so I can install another 60kw worth of panels. /j

Batrium sent my order from 3 months ago but without my rma core in the package. I had emailed them when about eta on that a while back but no reply. I have a 500amp shunt but I recommend the 1000 amps just for ease of attaching the cables.

Wife pulled a large pot out of the moving boxes last night. Somehow the base was dented in to the point only the outside 1 inch would make contact. She came and asked me to look at the range as it was taking a longtime for the water to heat up. About the time I got to the kitchen the range cracked loudly. Interesting to see that it melted the top, I had an induction range downstairs I purchased almost 2 years ago. I had planned to install it in the kitchen downstairs. Never tried and induction before, noticeable hum, had a 10qt pot boiling in 5 minutes. I could place my hand all around the pot and range. It did not heat up the steel handles etc. Old stove was roughly 3400w, this one is 2540w and heats probably double the pace if not more.

Another one I wanted to start on was seeing if removing the splitters would help. The old hvac had started to rust and we found out the system was using the emergency heating as well. After it flooded the basement 3 months after moving in I switch to a 3 ton just for upstairs. The old hvac was a split system. Even with the diverters closed I could feel significant airflow from all the other ducts. Appears to have add some mold growth that started in the old system that was not draining properly. After removing the splitter duct and sealing it back up we can feel a decent increase in airflow. So far I have not found any mold in the main ducts.

Here's the pot that melted the range, very odd as it has been in a box for years. It's perfectly uniform in the depression. I'm only asking for $1900 dollars due to it's unique properties to melt ranges and greatly extend cooking times.

I have the 500A shunt too, the designer wasn't thinking about the size of cable lugs needed.

When my 1000amp failed and I had to switch over the the spare 500 I realized I should of stuck with the larger one. It really is much easier to work with.

Started to cut busbars but the dewalt was getting dull, it did well for so many. Decided to try harbor freight and it cuts much better.

Started working on drilling the bus bars. still charging batteries. I still really like the voyager dvr. If your drill press ever fails or want to buy one the features are very nice. The auto start/stop start is so nice for repeated drilling.

Appears I will have to go back onto the grid, week of clouds that became much more denser due the hurricane. I moved arrays around and have 4 charge controllers on bank 2 and still negative. Even stopped charging batteries, using tools etc to see if we could keep going. It has been a net loss for two days straight, its 11:00 am out but looks like like very early hours just as the first light comes up.
