Does Amy Wan of Shenzhen Luyuan stand behind her product?

I am wondering if anyone has had experience with Amy replacing defective cells. I purchased 8 Grade A EVE 280Ah cells from Amy last year and assembled two 12 volt batteries that were used at a summer camp in an off-grid system. The batteries worked very well throughout the summer and all of the cells stayed well balanced. At the end of the summer, I noticed that one of the cells was refusing to be balanced. I tried balancing while charging and discharging with no effect. I disassembled the battery and connected the cells in parallel and top balanced them to 3.5 volts. I then disconnected the cells and monitored their voltages. The one problem cell voltage started dropping and has continued dropping while the other 3 cells have held steady.

I messaged Amy Nov 18th about the problem cell and she responded 3 days later asking for more information and pictures which I then provided. She then messaged me Dec 16th wanting a screenshot of the BMS (a JBD from Overkill). I responded with a detailed explanation of why I feel the problem is with the cell and not the BMS. I have not had any further responses from Amy. I have messaged her on a weekly basis but to no avail. I can see that she is reading my messages but is not responding.

There is no mention of product warranties on Amy's website that I can find, so I am wondering if I am out-of-luck as far as a replacement battery.

I would make an offer if Amy would ship a cell at half price. I realize you know everything was done right but that is impossible for the company to verify. For a true warranty a preassembled and sealed battery is a better option. Best case you may need to send the cell back.

Which will cost substantially more than purchasing a new one outright.

Doesn't seem like the right move. It was a long shot anyway and you don't want to just give her the screenshots?

I assume with any cells purchase that any warranty is basically just a DOA warranty.

Don't waste any more time, consider the cell lost and buy a new one. Shame to see a fairly trusted seller go AWOL on you like that.

Amy has replaced cells in the past for a few folks and has always provided very good service to everyone. As far as I am aware, those were replaced within a shorter time period though, pretty much post-assembly and a couple of months runtime. Over a year, things get trickier as there are other factors which can include assembly issues that can creep issues in over time.

Keep in touch with her and check your running message thread on Alibaba. If you gave her the information she asked for including the specific cells QRCode as it was shown in the EVE Test Report (I hope you kept a copy of that) I'm sure she'll sort it.

FYI for Everyone... That Bull Hooey in the RED SEA is causing all sorts of Shipping Craziness and of course shipping companies are taking advantage Yet Again... should it affect things coming from China to North America ? NO but you know the Greedy Shippers, any excuse to profiteer.

I would like to think everyone for your thoughtful replies. I received a response from Amy this morning offering options to resolve the issue. My original decision to purchase LFP cells from Amy was based on a lot of positive reviews. My purchase experience with Amy was no different; helpful, responsive, quality product at competitive price. Based on her response to me this morning, it appears that Amy does stand behind her products.

Please respond with her plan to replace the cell, and what shipping cost if any will you have to pay for.
Thanks

What was the resolution?
Was the response before or after this thread was created?

But only with a public foot up the arse.
Elaborate on that.. with something tangible & credible ? She's done well by everyone and has replaced stuff with a LOT less hassle than the majority of the vendors on Baba or Xpress.

I am curious as to what option she proposed, do tell.
Also keep in mind that S&H has gone into ludicrous mode because of the Red Sea shenanigans although it should not affect China -> North America - shippers are greedy greasy profiteers, so expect krudiness there.

Amy apologized for her delay in responding and stated that she had not seen this type of problem in EVE Grade A cells before. Below is her proposed solution options.

"If we report this issue to EVE to verify whether it is a quality problem of the cell itself, it will take a long time.

To solve this problem as soon as possible, I have two suggestions:

1. We use Express to send you a 4A active balancer. It will arrive soon.

2. We will send you a cell by sea, just it will take an extra 50-60 days. Can you accept that?"

I am going with option 2. As you can see, cost is not mentioned in her response and I have (perhaps naively so) assumed Amy is covering the cost. If that is not the case, I will follow-up with another post.

For the sake of brevity, I have not posted the entire thread with Amy that started last November. In summary, I provided her with a description of how the cells were assembled into a battery, the BMS that was used (JBD from Overkill), a photo of the assembled battery, the duty cycle of the battery, the unusual performance of the cell I observed and the steps I took to determine if the problem was with the BMS or the cell.

I think Option #2 is likely the best. An active balancer will not correct a cell that will not keep voltage within the working range.
I think the S&H will be hers considering its coming via boat. To airfreight a cell = $$$

It may be worth asking Amy for an air shipping quote if you offer to pay the difference, this depends on how soon you really want it, and it may be worth buying a cheap 1.5a+ active balancer just to get you by.

280K v1/v2 has a slew of issues but it could also be you have not assembled properly. Only way to test would be on a device like a ZKE-40 and perform a full charge / discharge test and see if you see any funniness with the curves.

Luyuan is doing whatever they can, they are selling good cells with test reports, but at the end of the day its hard to know if its a user problem or an item problem.

I can bet many user errors lead to false conclusions of cell quality.
