CATL 271Ah cell issues.

My guess is they're incompetent. If not fitted foam at least bubble wrap, foam peanuts crumpled paper, something.

I'm not any kind of an expert, but this really seems hazardous to me. It's clear the cell terminals were poking through the outside of the box; if they had touched some metal they could have shorted out and caused a fire.
Yes there was NOTHING between the very thin cardboard and the battery terminals. They ripped right thru. I would assume a very dangerous situation.

@MrM1, you have my condolences for these broken cells. I've still been eagerly awaiting a group of Lishen cells ordered back in February and it would be so disappointing and frustrating to receive a mess like that after all the waiting.

Not a few days before The bad cells arrived, I had also received 8 280 amp hour cells from another purchase through Michael. These cells were packed perfectly.

I think those are the worst shipped cells I have seen here :( I wonder what these sellers in China think is going to happen when people receive their cells like this? The cells shipped by Shenzhen Luyuan Technology are padded to the gills and have plastic corner protectors on the box.. such a striking difference.

I'd also second someones comment about this potentially causing an issue for everybody.. if somebody gets seriously injured for the leaking electrolyte, cells catch fire, or whatever from such inexcusable poor packaging nobody is going to be able to import any of these cells anymore except for those ordering entire containers.

I honestly do not even know what to do with the cells. I fear they are that bad shape. And the boxes are so bad I don't know how I could return them to anyone. Anywhere.

He might have pallets of the same destroyed cells. Hopefully he didn't overextend himself.

mine are sitting in the back corner of the garage until i hear back from Michael.

I posted in Michael's group buy thread, did not know of this thread until MrM1 pointed it out. Count me in the club too. Mine were supposed to be 280Ah cells. Just one box of 4 cells. Everything the same as you other guys: sad packaging, QR coded ground off, dings dents/etc. At least none of mine are leaking.

Have an order for 302s on the way. No tracking active yet. The shipping label was not printed until 7/20 so it looks like they could be a month behind. The shipper is Fed Ex in this case.... so no news is no news.

The 8 EVE 280ah cells I received from Michael (Basen) last October were packed very well and came in pristine condition. There were no plastic corners on the boxes and of course my cells did not come with laser welded studs. Any supplier should know proper packaging is important and most suppliers have done a good job.

What I am seeing in this thread is nothing less than terrifying for obvious reasons and I want to know who supplied these cells so that supplier never gets another order from anyone if we can help it.

My CATL 271 cells arrived today. Ordered 16. 4 were so badly damaged that UPS would not ship them out of Cali to FL. Got the other 3 boxes. None are usable. Leaking Electrolyte. My whole office smells like electrolyte right now. Most or all of the black top areas are badly damaged. Swollen. These should have been deemed bio hazards and not shipped at all. Going to need a full refund

These were billed as New Grade A cells. Yet there are NO QR codes, No labels, leaking and swollen.

This is the 3 boxes of 4 batteries as they arrived.

This is the way cells should be shipped. Cells should be individually Isolated, terminals should be taped if possible, boxes should be sturdy with corner protection. One thing missing that should be there is a FRAGILE sticker, and the required hazmat battery sticker. Not sure how they are getting away with not using the required stickers.

wish mine would have looked like that when they came in.....

Are these all coming in via UPS?

Having said that internal packaging left a lot to be desired

Yeah that did not happen. 1 inch of foam on one side (possibly the side and not the top or bottom but honestly I could not tell as the batteries in the boxes were every which way when the arrived) ... AND ... 1 inch of foam in the bottom that had 4 pockets about 1 inch deep for the batteries. In my case, the pocketed part was crushed by the batteries laying all out of place and all over each other.

I am still waiting on some one to hear from @Michael B Caro . Has anyone?
