EVE identifies Grade B cells using new marking Method [Reposting from General]

With China shipping you have no option to return. With usa shipping you can get your money back.

Maybe docan is shifting to China to remove the buyers ability to return stuff.

At that point you can buy from any of the vendors like basen qso doungguan lighting they are all selling the same type of cells. Grade B.

The only grade sellers in China are eve official store and luyuan.

yes and as I mentioned I'm ok with grade b on this project... The unknown, likely grade B cells I got from docan are working great in my camper. docan may be holding off, liquidating thier older US stock before the cats out of the bag when they have to order the replacements with a big "B" on the serial pad.

Im not going to pay an $500 extra vs 750 total just for the option to return to china I should not need with no garrantee they arent the same grade cells.

Thats why ill be buying them this time around from a seller with a lot of positive feedback. If it doesnt work out for me I'll know to do it differently the next time around but at that point it will only have cost me $200-300 taking my chances vs spending the extra $4-500 off the bat. Again I have a budget here.

Don't go on feedback, Go on being able to get your money back, if you go on feedback you are going to get spanked.

I have dealt with 3 vendors and 2/3 all had great feedback when I placed my order, but still sent me poor quality items, grade C.

The other vendor, luyuan, was basically considered the gold standard for vendors, well I still happen to get what I would say is about grade A -, almost grade A but still a bit short.

Xuba went out of business, Basen is basically a scam company, and Luyuan is well OK, but claims my testing equipment is not professional. I don't think I would want to return my Luyuan cells But I think I would be entitled to a discount.

Here are my test results:

So as you can see, feedback means nothing, you need to protect yourself and have the option to get your money back. You are playing at the craps table in a casino if you throw caution to the wind, even the best vendors can have issues.

Other problems;

1) You could have your items stuck in customs.
2) There was an incident when some cells were part of a shipment that caught fire, those people got screwed for like over a year with the shipping company basically blocking all items
3) Finally some times the manufacturer themselves is sending out problematic products and unbeknownst to the vendor they are selling as grade A. This is what happened recently to the LF280K being sold by many vendors, and I the unluckiest DIYER got stuck with some.

As for Docan, basically 2-3 months ago everyone was praising them, then came the post regarding swollen cells, cells failing short of capacity, and now they are selling CATL cells with fake QR codes...

So I'm not saying these will definitely happen to you, but I am saying you should buy from a place where you can return the cells locally with in your country and use a payment method like a credit card / paypal. If you don't do both, you could be put in bad situation where having to send items back to china to get a refund basically makes it impossible to get your money back.

When I am in contact with the sales representative at EVE, I get the answer that they do not sell Grade B cells to anyone at all, and cells that do not meet the requirements for Grade-A are recycled directly in the factory to be used again in the production of new cells.

what a pile of :poop:

fair enough points... gives me more to consider.

I looked at some of Docans recent prices for there catl 302... I don't think its worth the savings for an extra $30.0/cell you can get true EV grade with report, albiet you'll have to wait 45-60 days for them to arrive.

we are talking $170 vs $200.

I will add that my last order only took about 45 days:

Ordered 5/26, received 7/14.

wow over 2 grand for the 105ah cells from luyuan shipping is as much as the cells

The shipping is not accurate, you need to ping Amy via Alibaba chat for an accurate quote. The "estimate" Alibaba provides is always way off.
For me, it says $1056.00 for 16 cells, plus shipping. That's $66.00 per cell. Everyone that I purchased (16) measured above 105AH. From what I'm hearing, it is only the new 280AH cells that are measuring lower than rated capacity, no matter what the source. I haven't ordered any 280 cells since Xuba, but all of my 304 and 105 cells measured above their rated capacity (yet still below what EVE said). For example, EVE says a cell was measured at 323AH at the factory, and it measures 315AH for me. That may just be because I didn't measure until 2 months after manufacture, or the ship was too hot, or what, I don't know.

What I want to know is why isn't Mr. Lampard Li responding to any of these posts, he registered here to say what he wanted to say regarding the packing situation but has been completely quite regarding the issues with the 280K.

check 18650batterystore.com they have the 105 in stock, I would stay away from the 280K.

Gobel has been quick to get back to me via email while I'm inquiring about LF230s.
They've came right out and said they have a B on them.
Pricing is attractive, shipping has me a bit nervous, the pictures they sent me of cells with bare terminals when I asked to see what I'd be buying has me on hold.

What is your source of information? Can you please share a few links, so I can educate myself?

check 18650batterystore.com they have the 105 in stock, I would stay away from the 280K.

When I purchased mine, they were $45/cell, and shipping is cheaper since Amy puts 8 in a single box (actually two boxes taped together).
They make great 24v or 48v packs.

Thanks for this, they have 'grade A' 230s in stock, with the new dual terminals, for $144 a cell when you buy 16.
I've got Gobel at $125 a cell for grade b with old terminals and slow shipping...
I've ordered from Docan twice in the past with no issues, I'll get a fresh quote from Jenny and see how they play out in the current market.
18650 looks promising.

I will say they have good prices for USA stock, and those are EVE original shipping containers.
Even without the report, it is very likely you are getting genuine (not auction) cells. Maybe not automotive, but who knows until you test some. We just don't need a full C rate for solar storage, and designing a system with a low C rate is easy.

well in my case they are being used in an electric vehicle so... they are $1125 + shipping and tax so already a bit more than docan for me since they have free shipping and tax is included.

How do the 230Ah from GOBEL tested out?
I have been looking at 230Ah from GOBEL website on the 230Ah, glad to see what the price is compared to DOCAN price from Houston.
I just look at www.18650batterystore.com/products/eve-lf230-grade-a-cells-lifepo4 for the LF230, for $139 ($56 for shipping 4 cells to Cali), that is a very reasonable price for EVE cell with EVE terminals which means the cell did pass the test and good enough for EVE to weld on the terminals since I would think EVE will not bother to put on their terminals if thee battery is no good.

I haven't purchased yet.... The last photos they sent were of cells with bare terminals... There is a cheaper option as well (attached)
Docan only has CATL in TX currently.
