My A Grade Eve cells from Fogstar have arrived. Said delivery on or before 19th October, they arrive today 14th. They look great not completely flat when you put them side by side. I don’t know if they they should be, being A Grade. The biggest gap is 3mm. Anyway now the fun starts. Added some photos for anyone who wants to see what they look like.

I did a quick scan of two, these were produced August 9 2022 @ Jingmen Factory
Thanks I wanted to scan them but the app is only for android, I have an iPhone. Unless there are other apps than the one Andy uses from The Offgrid Garage.

Sadly the images are not clear enough to scan them all. I do not know of an IOS App for this. I do not think that Romain does IOS.

Thanks for the order @Smudgey - if you need the EVE QC sheet with all of eves internal resistance and QC info just give us an email and we can send it over.

i collected a ready assembled 300ah lifepo battery earlier this week for my motorhome (RV) and am now looking at purchasing EVE cells from Fogstar to build a battery bank, so am looking forward to hearing how you progress

Dave

Are you building these into a diy box?
I got 8x B grade cells delivered and am just about ready for testing, like you I have no dedicated capacity checker,
but one is on the way from Aliexpress. Meanwhile, I'll do a rough test using a known load, U-INT clamp meter and JK BMS readings vs time.

I was going to build 2 wooden boxes for the cells, but found a video on youtube, where a stackable DeWalt tool box was modded, plenty of room inside and not too expensive, around £23 on Screwfix.
I modified the boxes differently, it's still a work in progress, but I'm happy with it.

If your interested, search this title on YouTube, I have no connection to Butch Williams, just found it helpful.

280AH EVE Battery Box Build, Easy simple design. by Butch Williams

Fogstar sell a case for a 280ah self build battery - wouldnt that be easier? i know its dearer (£39.99 though you can get 15% off it).

I wanted a case with more space, inside for mods. The Fogstar case for 280ah is nearly twice the price, although the former is more important to me.
not twice the price with 15% off BUT the important point is that it doesnt meet your needs, that is the most important thing!

good luck with the project!

not if you forward plan and buy at the same time as the cells and have them all delivered together .... (or collect)

you say tomato .....??
Very true, forward planning would have saved me a fortune on all the other stuff I bought, while I was still learning. It’s just as well it’s became more like a hobby! Lol

i am very much in the same position, learning by trail and error (hopefully from other peoples !) - spending that much time on you tube and the internet just watching, listening and hopefully learning for those who paved the way for me as a complete novice to follow!

i nearly pulled the trigger on a heat pump 18months ago - what a lucky escape that was ......

i really didnt know much about solar panels when i had them installed about 7 years ago and to be honest, i still dont know a lot about them 'technically', though i have recently fitted some on my motorhome (RV) and all works well!

my next project, just started, is to build a battery storage setup, using cells from Fogstar (16 x 280ah) and a Sofar inverter (collecting on wednesday i hope). I have an electrician who is MCIS qualified, who will complete all the connections to the grid etc. i will save a few bob by routing cables and fitting all the 'bits' to the wall and installing the 12v side of things. He hasnt fitted a 'home brew' system before so is very keen to be involved - especially as the savings are considerable against off the shelf batteries.

i need to keep it separate from my solar panel set up to avoid losing my FIT payments, so it needs to be an AC coupled inverter but with the potential to add further solar (not grid tied) to charge batteries some time in the future

the system is purely financially driven, i am not an ECO warrior, just trying to keep our bills to a level we can afford!

I'll be stopping at 8x280ah I think!

Fogstar seem to be on track for shaking up the UK market, I hope the cells are as good as they say.
The 8 I got look great, now the question of "do I, or don't I compress them"? begins, that usually creates some lively debate ;-)

One thing is for sure, buying in the UK is much less of a risk, than taking a punt direct and (when in stock) a lot faster.

Good luck with your build

Do you have a link to this? I can't find it to save my life!
I think they are listed on their fb store. Having just watched a fogstar battery teardown on youtube I'm going to bite the bullet on their 105Ah and it's good the UK has a supplier of good cells.
