Also placed an order for 8 new 280Ah EVE cells from Shenzhen Luyuan; order process was pretty simple, looking forward to delivery and testing. I expect the shipment to take about 2 months, after which I will update the forum with test results.

You should adjust your delivery expectations to 3 months or more.
Mine took 2.5 months, before the latest set of new delays (16 days) in the port these are shipped from.

M6 Studs are what they use,
All shipping everywhere is messed up thanks to Covidus Interruptus and there's nothing that can be done about it. Whatever shipping company is used, their tracking won't go live till your order has cleared customs and is in the hands of the delivery company, fedex, dhl, ups, etc all the same.

Thanks - I do know it will take a long time, hopefully less than 3 months though. What’s causing new delays?
New delays are caused by new Covid outbreaks in the port where they are loaded.
News reports say waiting to dock and load went from half a day to 16 days.

So far very happy with the response from Amy at Shenzhen Luyuan - payment received 7/9, on 7/17 Amy posted pictures of the wrapped boxes and a link to the measured data (shown below) - I'm not exactly sure at one point the voltages are measured in their test routine, presumably after full discharge and then following some amount of recharging. Now waiting out that long period until the shipment arrives in the States and the FedEx number is active.

so what is the biggest difference between these cell and the VariCore 3.2V cells.. the price for 4 -310 Ah vari core is 460.. for the shenzhen luyuan lifepo4 280 ah it like $672.. that a $200 dollar difference.. are they worth that big a difference..?? if so how, why..

If you are not getting a Quote but just using the Shipping Guestimator that is posted on Alibaba, you won't get a Real Price. Matched 280's from Luyuan are $125 ea while Bulk 280's are $92 each plus Shipping.

You can't compare regular bulk cells (varicore) with matched/binned cells from Luyuan.

Regular cells: Work great, but will drift on low SOC if you topbalance them. Capacity of 310Ah is usually in the range of 290-315Ah, but no guarantee. Total capacity of a pack is determined by the weakest cell.

Matched and binned cells are the top of the range: 280Ah cell is >280Ah guaranteed (mostly more like 290Ah or so) and they are, even at low SOC, almost no cell drift. So also the final pack will be more even, thus getting good results.
Especially when pushing high currents this makes sense.

Also: aftersales, proper English communication and packaging differs between vendors.

If you're willing to get the most of your money and willing to take a bet: Go for the cheapest ones.
But youre taking the risk of slighly lower the quality. Any vendor will say it's grade A and matched, but showing a video with a voltage/resistor testing isn't..

If you're willing to spend a little more, go for Luyuan: you're knowing the quality you're going to get is great and you will get accurate testing reports.

Personally, I'd avoid Ali sellers. These sellers are primary targetting mass volume, not quality. I've seen plenty of people with issues from Aliexpress cells. Varying from shipping damage or scratched QR codes to clearly swollen cells or used cells (which not even get half of their rated capacity)

Anecdote:
ordered a set of 8 from Amy on 5/30 and UPS just got their hands on them. they’ll deliver 8/3-8/4.
So just over 2 months.
3 months is definitely the right expectation right now though, between 2-3 months is now the norm.

He could also use the search feature on the forum. Liitokala/Varicore is discussed at great length. Sometimes good, but frequently used or bloated cells are shipped. One is a gamble, the other is shipped with the test results and matched from the factory.
