Cell price drop

I just looked out of curiosity, Gobel has Battero 280Ah cells for $69 ea from their US warehouse, free shipping.

I should stop looking "out of curiosity" as it makes me want more cells.
Lol, they dropped them 10 bucks, wonder when that happened. Last night I told them I ordered from another supplier, mainly because they kept pestering me about making an order.

9th box for BMS? How long till you assemble yours? I may try this weekend.
Hopefully I at least get them top balancing this weekend, so many other things to get done and the weather is supposed to be excellent... Really wish I could work less and play more, don't we all...

I don't have a low voltage supply, my chargers start at 12V, so just gonna trust in the 2A balancer on the JK BMS.

POINT OF INTEREST to anyone using Fresh Cells.
I just took 4x280 & Topcharged & series balanced them. They started @ 3.37V and it took 11 hours starting at 44A to reach 3.650 and down to taking 5A. This fully activates the electrolytes. Next, I took 4x280AH cells which I have had in use, and again starting at 3.37, and within 2.5 hours they reached 3.650 and dropped to taking 4A. Next set all 8 In Series and within 30 minutes ALL Cells are full and Amps dropped to 3.5A so they are ready for installation.

This shows the difference between new cells that have been stored/idle for an extended period, compared to "active" cells. LFP when fully activated can & do take charge must faster and retain it longer when static. This is just a real-world, simple example to consider.

My plan is to fully charge my other batteries, then isolate them and charge up the 280Ah battery fully with solar, then turn on all the battery breakers and put it to work (17.5kWh of existing batteries).

Haven't been closely following thread but what's the 411 on these and shipping costs?

I ordered 32 cells from a company on alibaba on May 6. Received the cells from China last week. They are Eve 280k V3 with octagon terminals. From 3.6 down to 2.8, they are showing around 305Ah. I am considering purchasing more, and the rep said EVE sent out a notice of price increase.

Has anyone else heard of a price increase incoming?

I ended up paying $79 per cell delivered, $60/cell before freight and credit card fees. If I purchase again, I anticipate the rate going down to $75/cell due to recent price drop plus avoiding alibaba and transaction fees.

Contemplating an Apexium diy box with BMS etc from Amy for $640 from Houston.

I just can't bring myself to spend over $400 for a sheet metal box.
Requirement from my wife was that my DIY battery shouldn't look 'ghetto' and she shot down my plywood box idea... so I guess I'm the target customer for these sheet metal boxes.

You do realize that OTHERS sell the Steel Case Kits for 1/2 that price right ?
Shop around with the various Known Good Vendors FIRST !

IMPORTANT MONEY SAVING TIP !
When you buy your cells, cases etc it is cheaper in general to get it all from one vendor who will "bundle" up the stuff and save on Per Box fees (for shipping) which add up Really Fast.

If you can share a link for a 16 cell case with BMS (Seplos v2), for $320, that ships out of Houston for 3 day delivery to NY I will gladly take it.

Luyuan box is cheaper, but, shipping may make it not cheaper, I suppose.
I asked Docan about their price ex China it actually ended up being more, because they are heavy and take up a fair bit of volume, no savings on the shipping, like there can be on the cells. Now if I was getting couple pallets I'm sure pricing would be much less.

lesson #1: Lack of Patience comes with a COST.
Instant Rice mentality of having to have Instant Gratification regardless of the consequences (financial or otherwise) has led up to the problems we face today in the Real World where everything happens in the fullness of time, regardless.

PS: On S&H... Well I get stuff pretty much every month and so deal with it constantly.... Sadly, some vendors really FLUFF the S&H costs and a few of you are seeing that but not realizing it... There IS a game for "everything" and Buyer Beware of that.

I understand. So how much other stuff did you buy for a case with BMS and ancillaries, to get it down to $320? I'm not in a position to spend $5k or whatever to get the "free" shipping. If I recall you are buying in qtys of six cases or more, plus cells?

I got a quote recently for just two boxes - no cells - modified for my 230Ah cells, amd they were approximately that much. I'd have to go look.

As I am winding down everything my orders have been varied. I get "parts" and sometimes batches with all sorts of things.
Hence why I tell people that they can save a crapload if they work with 1 good vendor to bundle everything together & cut S&H quite drastically if done right. Some vendors honestly don't give a flip as there is "cream" to be gained from it.

The gotcha for me, is I know what the Wholesale Manufacture cost is and what the markups are.
Example: If you buy a case "kit" and a BMS with screen etc, That could be 3 boxes or 1 IF the BMS & Screen is put in with the case & it's parts that is 1 box & 1 box fee (not 3). The vendors CAN ship 4 280/304's in a box but they do 2 because it's more "per box rate" but also easier to handle and "some" couriers get nasty about it. One trick that wors is to use a 4 Pack box but put 3 cells in it and fill the rest of the space with BMS - Parts etc meking it just under the weight limit & bundling. There are numerous ways to squeeze the best $ out but you need a willing vendor.

Most surprising about ALL OF THIS !
It is NOT rocket science to make these cases but no-one in US or Europe seems interested in making them "domestically" and there is absolutely NO REASON NOT TO other than willingess.

Because the price once you pay for a European or American's wages including benefit burden will mean only a small percentage would be willing to pay the price that's required to make a profit.

Ok so no BMS, display etc. for $351 delivered. BMS+display for $150? Now we are at $500? Cheaper than the apexium yes but not a huge gulf.
