State Farm insurance offering Ting electrical monitor

Hrm, my agent kept pushing himself as a financial manager. I never was interested. I wonder if state farm was part of that too

In my opinion, it's a terrible idea. If you want it for your own peace of mind, just buy it and pay for the subscription.

But if you get it from your insurance company for free, be aware that if a problem is detected and you fail to correct the issue (or it's too expensive to fix -- what if the electrician suggests a whole house rewire?) and something happens, whether it's related to the issue or not, the insurance company has documentary evidence to say you knew of a problem and neglected to correct it, and thus they will not pay out for any damages.

I imagine they can also use this to deny claims ?? Let's say you claim a lightning strike or electrical surge damaged something and this device does not have a record of that event.
