Cell price drop

There are several of us here who have had really good luck with cells from Docan, but there are others who bad mouth them all the time (you may well know who they are if you've read the board much ;) ). There certainly was a time that they were grinding off and re-lasering the data matrix, which was not cool. They didn't do that on any of the cells I have purchased from them.

Im fairly sure those REPT cells are the same one gobel just put on sale for the diysolarforum

Thanks for this. I was considering ordering the Battero Tech from Gobel for $79/cell.
My 32 EVE LF230 from Docan are still performing just fine and dandy.
Decisions decisions
I just recieved 96 from Amy but tempting to buy some more at that price with free shipping. Eventually my golf cart will be 48V LFP and the 280's will fit. I already have the controller in it.

Well Sun Fun Kits now has 64 cell pallets of the rept in the USA, looks to be about 93.60 with standard bus bars and fibersheets and 94.63 with fiberglass and flexible bars. So they haven't really gone much lower since December.

Same for 18650 they are about 99 with quantities over 48. Ezeal and batteryhookup are sticking to there 105 price don't really have any discounts for qty.

This makes it the 4th month in a row we haven't seen any drop so I'm thinking we have hit the bottom and the prices may actually start to go higher as production is shutting down to match demand. Would not be surprised if we see closer to 110/cell in a few months.
About to pull the trigger on 16 REPT 280 from US stock Docan for $75+5%. Sun Fun Kits prob made a decent profit on those pallets. All signs point to continued drops.

The real tragedy is ezeal who could have been a contender, could have been some body, but because Docan has there fingers all over them, they get treated like a bum.

BTW have you seen the latest e-mailers from Docan, "Test Reports!" "Test Reports from EVE" its funny the minute they have test reports they are waiving it around in your face like 90's rappers wave 💵 in rap videos.

Hopefully they stay the course and be upfront like Gobel does (yes I know they push the whole EV / LSEV mumbo jumbo, but no qr sanding which is key).

I was triple checking the recipient payment address lol I'm like don't make a typo!

If this set works out will prob get another set of 16, I have two of the non inverter jk 200A 2A BMS waiting for action.

I think they are just maintaining pricing despite lower costs to them. Maybe a little "collusion"?

IF you chat with some sellers on Alibaba long enough you find out the Chinese sellers don't need to make a profit, they simply need to sell it at cost. Well that seems like a stupid business plan.... Until you find out the Chinese government gives them a subsidy/kickback for cells they export outside the country. So all they need to do is make the sale, break even, and then collect the subsidy/kickback check.

Well outside vendors are SOL on this, which is why you will never be able to get cells for the same price as direct form Chinese sellers. They are not in the business of selling cells, they are in the business of collecting government subsidy.

BTW literally all Chinese EV car makers are working on this model, and only BYD and Tesla can actually make a profit, they rest aim to break even only, and get subsidy check from the government which is there profit.

Interesting, so basically they did the IRA battery/storage investment funding/corporate welfare that the US is doing now, earlier on.

I have heard this as well, they don't make money on the cell they make money on the tax credits as long as they are bringing dollars into China they get paid.

So basically the local importer has to import the cell, pay duties, markup the cell, and try to sell and make a profit vs the Chinese seller who can sell at the importer's cost. So basically its not possible to beat China direct prices. :p

Wife asked why I needed her to sign into PayPal, said I could pay in eBay. I explained it's not an eBay item. She said it better not be panels. I smiled and said nope. She said is it something connected to panels? I'm like maybe....

Payment received, awaiting tracking.
Just sent mine.

Really wish I had 2 spare 230AH cells so I could run 17S packs. Currently I have 1 spare 230AH and 1 spare 305AH.
Hoping I didn't screw up not ordering 1 extra REPT.
Oh well, the simplest solution is obviously building a 6th pack before winter. 😉

Looking at current prices + quality levels we can count on from Known Good vendors and remembering back a few years - boy, things have changed in so many ways. At least there is a track of good sellers/suppliers now. I wonder when the prices will finally stabilize & what that will work out to be.

Haven't been closely following thread but what's the 411 on these and shipping costs?

Not sure if that's Docan list but I looked at US warehouse versus ex China pricing for 16 REPT280.

US pricing was $1260 total, $75 per cell plus 5% fee, delivered FedEx within a few days.

China pricing was $50 per cell, $800, +$310 in DDP sea shipping, so $1110, plus 5% payment fee for a total of $1165.

I ended up paying the $95 premium for US warehoused cells

Edit:
China cell including shipping: $72.81
US cell including shipping: $78.75
