New Supplier for 280Ah cells: Shenzen Basen

I bought nine. Basen sent three boxes of three, with the extra spaces filled with foam.
Ho man...she try to convince me that basen can't send cells other then by 4...
I need 17, I do not want to be fucked cause one cell as failed...! I'm pretty sure that I .less.then one year they will not be able.to provide the same cell....so... Better take one more or two...

Well they may not be happy about doing it. This was the 1st time I have ordered from Alibaba and was expecting email communication not the internal messaging system so I missed it when she express concerns about the extra battery. I think they just gave up and filled the order but it was three boxes vs two.

Yea they do.not seems to like it, but it seems a good idea to get a spare cell, they just now have to design a 3 pieces box...shouldn't be so hard...?

Just got home from camping this weekend and on my doorstep were the first 4 boxes!
I don't know if I have the energy to unbox them tonight.

I didn't know if I had the energy either when I got my boxes. But I couldn't stand it any longer and found enough energy to open the boxes....lol

Very nice! Gives me hope my tracking will go live in the next week.

I just wish someone had told me the Chinese color positive black. ? Good thing I figured it out before I hooked up the bms, altho I didn't figure it out before I smoked my power supply. Live and learnPXL_20201102_000629034.jpg

Sorry about your PS. The positive black is weird. Even though the cells are labeled it would be nice of the positive was red.

Yea the labels are so small I had the two days before I put my glasses on and finally saw them

A common wiring color scheme is positive black and negative/ground as brown. Rule #1 with new hardware is to never assume. Check pinouts and if necessary make labels for each wire. Don't want to let the magic smoke out...

I did some searching and sent out a Request For Quote on Alibaba looking for a different supplier for 280Ah cells.
I read all about Amy and Xuba. Even with all the guidance, some people still seem to have troubles. Their prices weren't the best, so I ordered my first 4 from UNIS. They work great, but, for some reason, I couldn't get them to send me a new label to replace one that was peeled back in shipping.
Emily from Shenzhen Basen answered my RFQ with an offer of $77.40 per cell. MOQ = 4. She says they are Grade A new cells.
Shipping is $268.00. With the Alibaba service fee, a batch of 16 came up to $1536.53 delivered to my door via FedEx (after they get off the ship).
I ordered two sets of 16.
Now, we wait...
I just ordered 20 280ah cells from Emily at Shenzhen Basen. Total was $1,640 for the batteries, $286 for shipping for a total of $1,926. There was a small credit card fee as well. That's $96.30 a battery delivered. As you said, now we wait... But so far it's been a smooth process, and this is the first time I've used Alibaba. Next up for me is buying 4 BMS' (3 12v batteries at 280ah, 1 12v battery at 560ah).

That is $1926 / (20 cells * 3.2Vnom * 0.280 kAh) = $107/kWh. Wow, good deal - iff they meet the specs - keep us posted :). Far cheaper & safer than for example salvage Tesla Model X 100D modules on Ebay @ ~$225/kWh. Less than half that price.

280 ah cells with bus bars $75.20 per cell on sale 20% off for a month or so.

Every supplier has been selling Lishen cells for under $80/cell since EVE cells went out of stock. There's no real discount there, plus Bassen adds to the invoice an Alibaba fee that other vendors don't.

Mine were Eve cells for 75 or 77. I forget. Anyways, under 1500 for 16 shipped door to door

What aussiesim said. The photos are of Lishen cells.

Is there a problem with the lishen cells?

The only thing I'm unhappy about is the pathetocly small buss bars. I just bought 6 feet of 1/8" copper to make my own

I don't think there are known problems with the Lishen cells (beyond being nominally 272Ah vs nominally 280Ah for the EVE's but based on what the sellers say, the Lishen's test at or above the actual rating of the EVE's 280-285)

The thing is, nobody or almost nobody here actually has experience with the Lishen cells. So while that is not a 'problem' it is in some respects a risk or a negative until more is known. The primary advantage of the EVE cells in my eyes apart from cost, is the budding 'mindshare' and community adoption and experience with these cells and a few of the sellers.

That said, the EVE cells went from unknown to massively popular in a bit more than 6 months, if they sell out and people are still hungry for high capacity low cost prismatics, and the Lishens are available at the same price point, I'm sure in time they will become equally popular if they turn out to be of acceptable quality.

@Michael B Caro has ordered some and is getting @Craig to run them through his test process. Not sure what all that entails, at the least I'm sure it involves a full charge+discharge cycle / capacity test.

I think it was @Gazoo who came close to buying Lishen cells a while back from Dongguan Billlion(?) Lightning(?) but pulled out at the last minute due to internal resistance being out of spec.

We don't know if there are problems with Lishen's yet because no one on the forum has tested them, but one of the forum members has 4 in hand and his test results should be out soon. There are one or two suppliers that have tested them and they claim the cells test better than 280ah. Lishen is a top manufacturer in China. From the bits and pieces I have picked up I am optimistic the cells will be good replacements for EVE. Anyways the whole point was to point out the Basen 20% off isn't anything to get excited about because the Lishen's cells don't cost as much as the EVE cells.

Those were the 200 amp cells with studs. The studs were spot welded instead of a hole being tapped. That could have been the reason for the high IR mismatch. In fact Tim at Billion pointed it out. I decided not to risk it so I pulled out. Another member has the 200ah cells and is happy with them.

Mr Prowse has recently done a capacity test on Lishen cells

Having said that Bigbattery sells them as 170Ah 12V, Will found the capacity to be 179Ah at 0.2C, and on Alibaba thus far I've only found listings for Lishen 202Ah and 272Ah prismatic LiFePO4 cells.
