I'm back to considering my first DIY pack. This would still be a bit of a trial run for me so not ready to invest in the biggest cells.

Is there any reason I should not be considering the tall skinny EVE 105's? I know they have the threaded hole terminals which people don't like, but I deal with a lot of aluminum threads on my dirt bike so I think I know how to stop at good and tight.

The alternative would be EVE 230's with the stud terminals. Is there any general reason to avoid these either?

I would have thought the 105's would be older stock but if I did get cells from their test spreadsheet the 230's are a 2022 batch and the 105's are 2023.

Price it out per ah...
99/230=0.4304
50/105=0.4762

I found the 230s are the best price and pretty easy to work with. I haven't used the welded male stud version yet, only the female threaded standoff which I've only been able to find direct from China recently.

I'll more than likely be ordering 16 more 230ah from ezeal in the next week.

Yeah I did see they're a better value. I was more wondering if there's any bad rumors about their reliability or performance, like there was about the earlier 280's. Or if they're actually out of production and old stock or something.

Sounds like you've been happy with them, I'll take that as a good sign.

LF304 = Good
LF230 = Good
LF105 = Good
LF280K V1/V2= NOT GOOD
LF280K V3 = Great
LF280N = Good
LF280DK = So So
I'm currently debating between the LF304 and LF280K V3 - curious why you put the V3s as great over the others?
Is there more info out there on them apart from the SFK video?

Andy offgridgarage did a test with grade B 280K V3 on a gobel power battery, easily got 297 AH. That is good. SFK did a test and got 310AH on a grade A which is right up there with the 304, this coupled with the fact that the 280K V3 has 6000 cycle vs the 3500 cycles the 304 gets makes it a great cell. Well at least based on what we have seen thus far.

I would not get the V2 280K (round terminals, the new ones are hexagonal).

Thanks...I didn't know Andy had a video on them, so will have a look tonight.

The 280K V3 is 5% cheaper than the 304 for me, so a bit of a tough call.

Did everyone else get this email from Amy ?

"Fresh new stock EVE LF304 EV grade A battery cell, testing to 318Ah apparently.
Unit price is 112USD~107usd/each, not included shipping cost."

Link?

112.00 for 1000 pcs, Amy will usually give this price for less if you order like 32 or so.
Last time I checked Alibaba fee / transaction fee / shipping / sales tax adds about $30.00/cell

so... $142.00/cell?

I predict the 280K V3 will cost the same as the 304 once all said and done. 304 has a proven track record so if need cells now this would be the way to go, however, if you wait to wait a bit I think for home storage the 280K would be better due to higher cycle life.

Thanks very much for your reply. The 280K V3 are cheaper for me, so maybe it's worth a try for a lower price than the 304 in my off-grid system.

I'm going to make a post regarding the 280K saga... to tell you the truth us V1/V2 280K buyers got screwed, I had 8 of them paid $193 shipped during the peak of the prices. 278AH is the best I got, even though it did to 899WH (so passed WH test only).

Now anyone with grade B 280K V3 would basically laugh at anyone who bought Grade A 280K V1/V2.

EVE never acknowledged the issues with the 280K, they just stayed quite and swept it under the rug.

So hopefully they don't mess up the V3, so far its looking good.

Also I predict the prices of the V2 280K to drop so maybe this would lead to a better deal, we may even see sub $100 grade A 280K cells :unsure:
